Auction Report 30 March: stable Bordeaux, uneven Burgundy & rising Rhone

The auction closed on 30th March featured a large quantity of fine Bordeaux wines whose prices stabilised. In Rhône, old vintages of Cornas from domains that no longer exist are increasingly sought by bidders from all around the world. Burgundy, however saw contrasted performances. September Auction Report

The Online Auction that closed on 30 September saw buyers from around the world battle to get their hands on certain bottles. Prices soared with several rare bottles, especially Montrachet of Comtes Lafon, Cornas of Noël Verset and Arbois of Overnoy.   Mature Bordeaux staring This Online Auction comprised a significant proportion of Bordeaux grands crus, although this tendency seems to decline over time, with buyers broadening the spectrum of their purchases. WineDex up nearly 8% for first half of 2015

Driven by the success of Burgundy wines, the iDealwine indices have recorded a growth rate of nearly 8% for the first half of 2015. During the last six months, buyers were particularly interested in top French wines, with the iDealwine iDealwine 100 indice appreciating by 7.92%. Several factors contributed to this good performance, but it can primarily be ascribed to the popularity of top Burgundy wines. Petrus, Krug and wines from Chambertin, Cornas and Alsace in the spotlight

The latest Online Auction that closed on the 15th of April attracted nearly 500 buyers from 30 different countries. All regions garnered interest, in particular wines from Chambertin, Cornas and Alsace, while Petrus and Krug were also stand-out performers. Among the great wines of Bordeaux, Petrus is clearly distinguished, with prices on the rise for all vintages, from the classic years, to the highly sought-after 2000, which sold for €3,360 (+6%).
