How well do you know the most expensive Italian and Californian Wines? | World Wines, Ranked

bottles of sassicaia

Ever wondered how much a bottle of Sassicaia or Screaming Eagle goes for at auction? Continuing our bi-annual analysis of hammer prices, this week we’re investigating all wines that originate outside France.

As you may know, iDealwine’s headquarters are in France, meaning many of are wines are sourced from French consignors, traders, and directly from the best wine producers in the world, hidden in every pocket of wine-producing France. More and more, we’re looking beyond French borders, to some of the most iconic estates in Piedmont, Tuscany, Rheinhessen, Napa Valley, Ribera del Douro and further afield.

Italy dominates the most expensive wine ranking, followed by the United States (Napa Valley reigns supreme), but there are certainly some surprises in store! Were you expecting to see Japan and Algeria on this list? Let us know in the comments!
