Do you remember the year 2016, which had been a whirlwind of climate chaos in certain regions of France (frost, hail, drought)? At the time, we organised a charity auction in collaboration with Vendages Solidaires to aid the winemakers who had been impacted by these climate hazards. Today we are launching the 4^th edition of this auction on iDealwine.com with more than 200 lots being offered from the cellars of winegrowers in the Loire, the Rhone, Burgundy, Bordeaux, the South-West, and even some restaurants. Join us on Friday, 16 December to participate in this annual event for which all proceeds (fees included) will be donated to the association Vendages Solidaire.

Vendages Solidaire … what exactly are they?

2016 was a tough year for many French winemakers as it saw different adverse weather events. One night of frost or a few minutes of hail was all it took to wipe out the harvest for the year.

The association Vendanges Solidaires was created in 2016 to help those affected. It raises money and supports the projects of winemakers at young domains which are committed to producing wine in the cleanest way possible. iDealwine has been involved with the auctions since the start of this year, hosting the auctions on its website to support this not-for-profit association.

To give you a little idea about the figures raised, €35,000 was donated to help winemakers in 2017. The €80,500 collected in 2021, €34,213 of which was raised through a charity sale on iDealwine, allowed eight relatively new domains to pull through.
