Back to school with iDealwine: let’s revise the wine classics

Today is the day we all wanted to postpone: it’s time to go back to school. No worries for those who haven’t spent so much time on their holiday workbook, iDealwine is here to help you revise your wine classics. Let’s discover all the must-haves per region.

Our geography class starts with Bordeaux. We hope you know your lesson and can localize all the prestigious Châteaux. In the North, you can’t miss out Château Mouton Rothschild with beautiful vintages: 1986, 2005 and 2009. Château Margaux, Château Le Pin and Petrus are also available, even with some unusual sizes. Let’s head south to the exceptional wines from Saint-Emilion like Château Ausone and Château Cheval Blanc. Last but not least, you shouldn’t forget the golden Château d’Yquem. Don’t forget to study hard and keep in my mind you may have a surprise test soon. 😉

Time to start the History lesson now with some of the most beautiful names of Burgundy. Don’t skip the Romanée-Conti great vintages: its Echézeaux 2004 and the Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 2002. Write on your timeline the best vintages of domain Méo-Camuzet: 2005, 2010 and 2014. Exceptional years of the Chambertin from Armand Rousseau are available (1996, 1998, 2001). Before the bell rings, the History lesson ends with the wines from Comte Liger Belair, going until 1986 in these auctions.

Take out of your schoolbag your set square and calculator, it’s time to revise your math formulas in the Rhone. Today’s problem is: Peter owns two magnums of Cornas Auguste Clape (of course, he bought them in a previous iDealwine auction! but some are still available now), he wants to decant them. How many 75ml decanters would he need?

That’s too easy for you? Let’s skip a year and raise the level… Alix only has room for 12 bottles in her wine cellar but more than 400 Rhone bottles are available in the iDealwine catalogues. How can she choose between an Hermitage of Jean-Louis Chave, a Guigal Côte-Rôtie and a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château Rayas? Ok, that’s maybe more a philosophy essay than a math problem! 😉

Speaking of philosophy, as Pasteur once said “A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books”. Nothing better to find inspiration than the great wines of Loire like the Clos Rougeard (Les Poyeux, Le Bourg), Dagueneau (Silex) or Domaine Huet.

After a busy first week in school, it will be time to discover (again) the wines from the other French regions. Let’s start with Languedoc with unfindable wines that you can only find on your beloved website: Grange des Pères. Should you prefer the northern coldness, let’s meet up in Alsace to taste a Riesling from domain Trimbach, a Pinot Gris coming from domain Marcel Deiss or a Gewurztraminer made by Hugel. Finally, don’t forget to celebrate the start of a new school year with some Champagne! It will be hard to pick between Cristal Roederer 1996 and Dom Pérignon 1975.

We bet you’ve never enjoyed coming back from the summer holidays quite like now… 🙂
