It is a well-known fact that our love for le Château Le Puy is eternal. For this reason, we take great pride in being able to offer you one of its extremely rare wines, supplied directly from this estate, at auction today. It is an exceptional lot for many reasons, but most notably for its receipt in person at the estate, the VIP experience and lunch with the Amoreau family
The most exceptional cuvée of Château le Puy
The Blaise-Albert cuvée, produced for the 400th anniversary of Château Le Puy in 2010 (1610-2010), is a blend of the last 10 vintages of Barthélémy, the ‘grande cuvée’ of the estate. It is produced annually in a single barrel (200 bottles) with a new vintage being added each year. In this case, the vintages date from 2008 to 2018.
It is worth remembering that Barthélémy is a wine produced from a single plot located at the heart the château’s historic parcel of land, Les Rocs . The Merlot grapes are harvested from vines specifically selected for the occasion. As is the case with the estate’s other wines, vinification is carried out naturally and carefully with hardly any intervention in a style that is far removed from any excess extraction. This imparts a certain charm to the tannins and body of Le Puy. The wine is then aged in used barrels and the lees are stirred according to the cycles of the lunar calendar.
In order to craft Blaise-Albert, the Amoreau family convenes a tasting panel every year and selects the best wines to blend together in a barrel.
Upon tasting, this wine reveals an enchanting fragrance of small red fruits. On the palate, it is elegant, balanced, and profound, with superb fine-grained tannins and an impressive finish.
200 bottles of Blaise-Albert have been produced and for this exclusive first release of its new vintage, the château has placed bottle no. 2 up for auction (bottle no. 1 will not be released and remains with the Amoreau family).
