The world’s most iconic wines

It’s nice to get away for the summer, so we think it’s a good time to make a selection of the finest wines from regions you might not have explored yet. These fixed-price lists include names like Petrus, Rayas, Clos Rougeard, Egon Müller, Angelo Gaja, Tenuta San Guido, Penfolds, and Klein Constantia…

Italian icons

  • Tenuta San Guido: you might recognise the name of this estate’s most famous cuvée, Sassicaia, a Super Tuscan that has an inimitable style.
  • Roagna: a top signature of the Barbaresco appellation in Piedmont.
  • Angelo Gaja: wines to try if you want to experience a legend of the Langhe.

Spanish icons

  • Vega Sicilia: a name that resonates throughout the country and an estate whose Unico wine has found favour with many a top taster.
  • Pingus: founded by Danish oenologue Peter Sisseck in 1995, this estate has gone from strength to strength and is now one of Spain’s most renowned.

German icons

  • Egon Müller: okay, there’s just one for Germany this time. It’s an estate that works masterfully with the Riesling grape to craft magnificent wines.

South African icons

  • Klein Constantia: producer of one of the best reputed dessert wines in the world, this is a must-have for wine lovers with a sweet tooth!
  • Kanonkop: a domain known for its Pinotage production, a grape that is emblematic of South-African vineyards. Fine Cabernet Sauvignon cuvées are also made here.

Australian icons

  • Penfolds: hardly an introduction needed for this legendary producer, found in the heart of the Adelaide hills. The wines made here are sunny, powerful, and full-bodied!

French icons

  • Petrus: the most legendary Pomerol wine you can find.
  • Domaine Leroy: one that beats its own hammer price record every single year, and one of Burgundy’s most coveted signatures.
  • Château Rayas: the premier production of Emmanuel Reynaud, whose wine style simply cannot be copied. One to try at least once in your life!
  • La Grange des Pères: a Languedoc name that has shot to fame in the past few years, with its quintessentially southern character.
