iDealwine publishes the 2020 Barometer for fine wine auctions

iDealwine has published this year’s barometer, analysing fine wine auctions of the year just passed and including outlooks for the year ahead. This year, the well-researched document is available in PDF format to anyone signed up to the iDealwine website. And we’ve also made a video for you to sum up the main points!

It’s now an iDealwine tradition – as the spring arrives and the days get brighter, we set ourselves the challenge of putting together all the information we’ve collected from the previous year about the market of fine wine auctions. This is a comprehensive document, made with passion and checked rigorously, a precious item for wine lovers who wish to manage their cellars as best they can. The 2020 edition of the Barometer has the great plus of taking into account 20 whole years of data, a timespan that allowed us to place all of the market trends we have observed in a much larger context.

What is included in the publication?

This 130-page publication is a gold mine. It includes key figures from our auctions, a summary of the most important happenings in the wine world during 2019, an analysis of the overall market trends seen across the year as well as across the last 20 years. This means taking into consideration contextual factors such as changing consumer habits, a new generation of younger wine lovers, the rise of Asia in the wine market, and the development of wine making regions. As well as all this, there is a global analysis of wine consumption, a breakdown of the fine wine market region by region (including the highest priced bottles and the emergence of the figures), and finally an outlook for the year 2020. An ambitious project, the stakes of which are made yet higher by the fact that we are determined to hold onto our position as a leader in online wine auctions.

Why is the Barometer so important?

iDealwine’s Barometer is a must for wine lovers. As well as indicating the overall evolution of the auction market and the domains most prized by bidders across the world, it is brimming with details about the up-and-coming names in each and every viticultural region, the ones that you should be keeping a close eye on for future investments and enjoyment. With reference names that are must-haves in your cellar and organic, biodynamic and natural domains that we urge you to keep up with, all the information is at your fingertips here. It will help you to build up and manage your cellar without losing sight of its investment potential.

How do I get my hands on one?

Since this is the year that marks our 20th birthday, we’ve decided to make our Barometer a gift for all our clients. You can gain access to a PDF copy simply by creating an account on our website and going to “My iDealwine”.

A hard copy will be sent to Quintessence, Club, and Privilege clients. It is available to buy in this format for €95. If you wish to purchase a copy, please send a request to our customer service team at 190 rue d’Estienne d’Orves, 92700 Colombes with a cheque addressed to iDealwine.
