iDealwine has been a longstanding partner of Bettane+Desseauve, and of the Grand Tasting, the leading wine event they organise. This year, it will take place on the 1st and 2nd of December, in the Carrousel du Louvre, in Paris. We will have several occasions of meeting our customers during this exceptional wine fair that connoisseurs know as unmissable! A few indications on this event and the masterclasses available, for you to get ready!
11 years ago, Bettane+Desseauve created this fair, which gathers the most renowned names from the French vineyard and from the world. It is clearly the place to be, if you love wine! The partnership between iDealwine and Bettane+Desseauve is frequently underlined with several events around the world, such as the masterclass in Hong Kong on 9th November with Michel Bettane and Arthur de Lencquesaing to 50 Chinese wine collectors. This is also why if you buy one ticket, you will get one free, with the following code (to enter when buying your tickets): iDW2017GT.
Michel Bettane and Arthur de Lencquesaing at the Hong Kong Wine FairiDealwine stand
As every year, iDealwine will have a stand during the Grand Tasting. Come and see us, we will offer several references, including Domaine de Chevalier 2004, a Grand Cru Classé from the Graves, with its very fine red wine in the 2004 vintage, now perfectly mature and ready-to-drink, boasting smoky and toasty notes with rounded tannins. You will also be able to taste a superb biodynamic white wine from the Loire: Montlouis 2015, Les Tuffeaux, from François Chidaine. Moreover, we will open an Extra-Brut Champagne named Entre Ciel et Terre, from Françoise Bedel et Fils. This biodynamic champagne with 80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir is an absolute “must-try” wine. Besides, Friday and Saturday, three bottles will be blind tasted, and the winners will receive a €50 voucher to spend on iDealwine. This occasion is a great moment to share about wine and to ask us your questions on how to sell your wine, or any other question you may have! We will be delighted to meet you and talk with you! All the iDealwine team is waiting for you on the stand n°76.
Unmissable domains
Once again, Bettane+Desseauve have gathered incredible domains which are also for most of them, partner domains of iDealwine. Let’s start our tour in Alsace, where Marcel Deiss is probably the best person to talk about terroir. From Beaujolais, Château Thivin and Domaine Louis Claude Desvignes will prove you that it is possible to create wines from Côte de Brouilly with a great ageing potential. The Bordeaux selection is vast and no one is left out: Grands Crus Classés from 1855 (Beychevelle, Brane-Cantenac, Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Issan, Lascombes), classified growths from Saint-Emilion (Pavie-Macquin, Chauvin), from Pessac-Léognan (Domaine de Chevalier, Smith Haut–Lafitte, Malartic-Lagravière), from Sauternes and Barsac (Coutet, Suiduiraut, La Tour Blanche), Crus Bourgeois (Belle-Vue), great Pomerol wines (Petit Village) and little treasures (Haut-Carles, Agassac). From Burgundy, we recommend Albert Bichot, Château de Chamirey, Château de Marsannay, Château de Meursault, Domaine des Perdrix, Faiveley, Trapet Père et fils, Drouhin, Louis Jadot and William Fèvre from Chablis. Don’t miss the great Champagne houses, such as Ayala, Bollinger, Moutard, Deutz, Drappier, Bedel et Fils, Jacquesson, Pol Roger and of course Taittinger. Visit the stand of Mas Daumas Gassac from the Languedoc. We recommend Pibarnon, La Coste and Clos Cibonne from Provence. From the Roussillon, head to Mas Amiel. The Southwest of France offers the greatest wines from Madiran: Montus and Bouscassé. From the Loire, discover the superb Domaines de la Butte and Taille aux Loups from Jacky Blot, but also Domaine Huet from Vouvray. From the Rhône selection, we suggest you try Château La Nerthe, Clos Saint-Jean, Marcel Richaud, Saint-Préfert, Les Cailloux – André Brunel and Chapoutier. Of course the iDealwine stand is also an unmissable one of this list. Several other domains carefully selected by Bettane+Desseauve won’t disappoint you!
Interesting masterclasses and workshops
More than 40 masterclasses and workshops to please all tastes and curiosities! This festival starts on the Friday with Riedel, to explain the importance of tasting in different glasses. Several champagne masterclasses will also be available: Veuve Cliquot, Castelnau, Dom Ruinart, Mumm, Krug. Bordeaux will also be represented by prestige masterclasses, with Marquis de Terme, Yquem, Angélus, Domaines Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The Beaujolais region with Fabrice Sommier and Southern wines with four Mediterranean producers are also under the spotlight during masterclasses. You will also be able to discover Italian wines with Marchese Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga, who produces a Vigneti delle Dolomiti. To start the cooking workshops series, Château Prieuré-Lichine with the two chefs Christophe Gaud and Philippe Baranes will pair this Bordeaux wine with a sweet and sour dish. Finally, truffle is the highlight of the day, with two workshops, one with Cognac and the other with different French wines (Pol roger, Chanson, Brane-Cantenac, Grand Corbin-Despagne).
On the Saturday, the champagne masterclasses are just as impressive as the Friday, with Drappier, Henriot, exceptional Salon and Delamotte. On the gourmet side, Stéphane Pitré, from “Le Louis” restaurant and Alan Geaam will have to create the best dish to go with Philipponat champagne. In the wake of two masterclasses pairing champagne Besserat de Bellefon with cheese and Meunier champagne with canapés. Wine from around the world will be presented by Estate and Wines (New-Zealand, Latin America, China), but also a Chianti masterclass, and finally a cooking workshop with Château Rongzi and Chinese food. Bordeaux will be put forward with several masterclasses: Margaux (Château du Tertre and Giscours), Saint-Estèphe (six vintages from Château Meyney), Sauternes and Barsac (in the 2007 vintage). Food and wine pairings will be illustrated by Château de Carles, Suiduraut and Chanson Père & Fils, with different chefs! A masterclass with the must-have wines from Bettane+Desseauve will illustrate how important the conservation methods are for wine ageing.
