Christmas is fast approaching, and we’re so curious to hear what you’re uncorking this year!
Before you tell us, it’s only fair that we reveal our carefully chosen bottles first!
You might recognise some names from your contact with our wonderful customer service team or from our sales managers if you’ve consigned with us. There’s much more to iDealwine however, so you might like to read about one of our team members who work behind the scenes – like Henrique, just one of a dozen team members dedicated to inspecting and authenticating each and every bottle that goes to auction.
Without further ado, here are the wines our team is planning to enjoy this festive season:
SOPHIE, SALES MANAGER
For Christmas, Sophie plans to uncork Olivier Horiot’s Métisse brut nature champagne, selected for its delicious oxidative notes, nutty aromas and nutty aromas.
HENRIQUE – EXPERT IN AUTHENTIFICATION
“I’m planning to open the very fine Origin’elle Brut champagne from Françoise Bedel & Fils, a wine vinified partly in oak barrels and then matured for four years on lees.”
AMBRE, SALES, MARKETING AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT AT THE BORDEAUX OFFICE
Ambre decided to go for Matias Riccitelli’s 100% Sémillon from Argentina, specifically the Rio Negro Old Vine Sémillon. Fresh and floral, with citrus, vanilla, and spice aromas it’s an exciting new find for me, with enough structure to make a serious pairing this Christmas.
MICHÈLE, SALES ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Michèle is planning to open a number of fine wines this year and has it all planned out. Starting with two champagnes, firstly Philippe Gonet’s signature champagne, the vintage Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, which is beautifully fresh and harmoniously balanced, followed by a magnum of the cuvée Carte d’Or brut from Drappier.
The 2019 Cuvée de Chinon Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Philippe Alliet will bring this magnificent meal to a close, a Chinon Michèle loves for its great complexity and silky tannins.
NICOLAS, SALES MANAGER
Nicolas is looking forward to tasting a bottle of old Sauternes, bringing together wine lovers of all ages, and pairing it with the chocolate yule log. “I bought at auction on iDealwine, you can get great value old Sauternes this way”.
AGATHE, ACCOUNT MANAGER
Agathe is planning to prepare a fillet of beef with a morel mushroom sauce, which she plans on pairing with Hervé Bizeul’s Faune et Son Fifre, IGP Pyrénées Orientales.
JESSICA, ENGLISH TRANSLATOR
New to iDealwine, Jessica is in charge of translating into English all content created in French. She plans to uncork a 2019 Château Lavergne Dulong Bordeaux Supérieur and maybe another biodynamic wine from her cellar – to be decided!
VICTOR, TRADE MARKETING MANAGER
Add another champagne lover to the list! This time its Victor, champagne aficionado and former employee of Louis Roederer Champagne. This Christmas, he will open a bottle of Collection 243 Brut, an extraordinarily complex champagne, with a fresh structure and floral, fruity notes (white fruit, citrus). The finish is saline and leaves you wanting more! He highly recommends indulging in a special champagne this Christmas.
And now over to you, dear wine lover, which bottles are you uncorking this Christmas?
