2025 En Primeurs | The critics’ favourites

A person taking notes while wine tasting

The 2025 En Primeur campaign is well underway, and the critics have already awarded several 100/100 ratings. What are the 30 top rated properties?

To establish these rankings, we have ordered the properties using the average ratings awarded by top critics such as Jancis Robinson, James Suckling, The Wine Advocate, Vinous, Vinum, The Wine Independent, Jane Anson, Jeff Leve, Jean-Marc Quarin…

There are six stand-out estates with an average rating of 98/100. They have already obtained or will obtain 100/100 in the next few years and these legendary names are:

  • Lafite-Rothschild (potential 100/100 from Vinous and Alexandre Ma and 99/100 from Falstaff and The Wine Cellar Insider)

Cuban cigars, cedar, crème de cassis, blackberries, flowers, espresso, and forest leaves set the wine’s perfume. Refined, elegant, precise, and pure, the fruit tastes as if it were just pulled from the vines. Expressive, vibrant, long, and packed with blackberries, currants, Indian spices, tobacco, and marine influences, the seamless, graceful finish does not want to quit, passing the 60-second mark with ease.

The Wine Cellar Insider – Jeff Leve (99/100)

  • Léoville Las Cases (100/100 from Jean Marc Quarin)
  • Mouton Rothschild (potential 100/100 from James Suckling)

A glamorous wine for the vintage, with mesmerizing perfumes of flowers, al dente fruit and citrus flowers. Black currants with some mineral and stone undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and an endless finish. The tannins lead you on a great trip. It is the most Cabernet Sauvignon ever used in the blend in recent memory. Balanced and structured. Blend: 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot

James Suckling (99-100/100)

  • Margaux (100/100 from Falstaff, potential 100/100 from The Wine Advocate, The Wine Independent, and Jane Anson)
  • Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion (100/100 from Falstaff and Jean-Marc Quarin)

Deep dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Ripe dark berry fruit, a hint of plums, floral touch, pleasant herbal spice, some nougat and orange zest. Complex, yet lively, ripe cherries and cranberries, fine, ripe tannins, literally opens up in the mouth, delicate extract sweetness, lingers for minutes, already very convincing in its youth, cassis and ripe cherries on the finish, delicate and multi-faceted, great future potential.

Falstaff (100/100)

  • Château Ausone (100/100 Falstaff, a potential 100/100 Alexandre Ma)

The rest of the Top 30 received average ratings of 95 and 96 out of 100. So we can safely say that the 2025 vintage has already been crowned with numerous successes!
