A new autumnal sale is underway with a series of big names, prestigious appellations, and vintages each more splendid than the last. Some real masterpieces which promise to cause a stir at auction! Let’s take a closer look at what’s on offer.
Burgundy
As usual, Burgundy is offering up its finest treasures. Unmistakable, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti reveals its prized cuvées, Richebourg, la Tâche, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and, of course, the famous Romanée-Conti. Be in the know about Domaine Coche-Dury by looking into the array of differing climats (Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet) and vintages of varying maturity that are livening up the sale. Do you like the idea of wines from family-run domains? Then look no further than the winemaking talent of the Roumier family. If you’ve already heard of their grandfather Georges for his Musigny and his inimitable Premier Cru Les Amoureuses, then you should probably get to know his grandson Laurent Roumier, whose fruity and elegant wines are certainly worth a try. As is typical of iDealwine auctions, the most accomplished expressions of each region are brought together. Hence why, in Burgundy, you will find Armand Rousseau and his prestigious Pinot Noirs, Dugat-Py’s gorgeous representation of the Gevrey terroir, and even Raveneau, whose Chablis is sought-after across the globe.
Bordeaux
Stock your cellar with fine Bordeaux wines for the coming winter… snowflakes have already begun to fall for some! Take a look at the cases of six and/or twelve bottles of Château Haut-Brion, a wine which goes particularly well with large game. This grand cru from Graves is not the only one to be offered in numerous bottles. Cos d’Estournel, Mouton-Rothschild, La Mission Haut-Brion or indeed Figeac are available in cases of two, three, six, even twelve bottles. Start thinking about your Christmas menu, and take a moment to consider the magic of a bottle of Château d’Yquem, Rieussec or Doisy Daëne. The fruit of painstaking labour on the part of the winemakers, they deserve to sparkle in the bigger sizes (magnums, double-magnums and Jeroboams) that we are offering. Let’s finish this Bordeaux excursion with a flourish: what do you say to a series of old vintages from Château Petrus?
Loire Valley
Let’s look to the Loire, where we have prepared a little surprise for you: an impressive collection of Clos Rougeard! With older vintages, as well as more recent ones, and various Clos including Les Poyeux and Brézé, you will not want to wait a second longer to (re)discover this emblematic name. Beyond this there are some other hidden gems such as Domaine Dagueneau and Domaine Huet, as well as some bottles of Nicolas Joly’s biodynamic Coulée de Serrant.
Rhône Valley
Crossing the Rhône Valley, we can start in the North with the emblematic trio from the Guigal estate. La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque, all legendary names, are fought over by wine enthusiasts all over the world. Further south, vintages of Château Rayas from the 2000s are waiting to be discovered. Of the same appellation, the historic Clos des Papes domain produces wonderful cuvées, blending tradition and elegance with panache.
Champagne
In Champagne, the biggest names are making an appearance. Krug will be accompanied by its Krug Vintage and by its prestigious cuvée Clos du Mesnil, Salon presents its Cuvée S, and Roederer several bottles of Cristal. Other champagne houses have their own share in the auction, such as Bollinger, Taittinger, Barons de Rothschild and even Laurent Perrier…all you need to prepare for the festivities!
Happy auctioning!
