Guigal, Rayas, Allemand and Jaboulet: Rhône Valley icons are in fine form

Guigal’s renowned LA-LA-LA, the three most prestigious parcel-based cuvées produced by the famous family-run estate, displayed buoyant prices in February. Several lots from the 1985 vintage were acquired by collectors from Singapore, the United States, and France, at prices on the rise. A Côte-Rôtie La Mouline sold at €2,291 (+16%), a bottle of La Landonne reached €1,753 (+35%), while a La Turque fetched €1,335 (+7%).

Wines crafted by Emmanuel Reynaud (Châteaux Rayas, Pignan, Fonsalette and des Tours), which have, as we know, experienced sharp price fluctuations in recent years (skyrocketing prices in 2021-2022, followed by a decline in 2023 and 2024, still much less significant than the prior increase), continue to stabilise and have even picked up slightly since 2024. A bottle of 2007 Château Rayas sold for €1,027 (+14%), while a 2010 fetched €1,002 (+14%) and a 2001 went for €901 (+11%). Over at Pignan, prices were more stable, with a 2013 fetching €351 (+4%) while at Fonsalette, increases reached double-digits: +11% for a 2007 at €263 and +14% for a 2012 at €250.

Among the other estates, Thierry Allemand’s 2005 Cornas Chaillot was acquired for €438 (+59%), while at Jaboulet, the 1990 Hermitage La Chapelle sold for €588 (+21%), and the 1989 commanded €563 (+124%).

Dujac mature vintages in high demand

In Burgundy, Domaine Dujac, located in Morey-Saint-Denis and certified organic since 2011, saw a particularly strong global demand for its mature vintages. The estate’s 1978 Chambertin sold for €4,257 (+40%), while a bottle of 1996 Clos Saint-Denis reached €1,753 (+4%) and a 1992 Morey Saint-Denis was acquired for €658 (+9%).

More recent vintages from Domaine Coche-Dury also showed a slight upward trend. A 2014 Corton-Charlemagne changed hands for €5,884 (+3%), while a 2022 Meursault was acquired for €709 (+5%).

By contrast, wines from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti displayed great stability, with a bottle of 2012 Romanée-Conti auctioned off for €16,652 and a 2020 Corton-Charlemagne fetching €5,634.
