What are the 15 wines that have been bought the most during the 2024 En Primeur campaign? Let’s have a sneak peek into what people have in their baskets… Château les Carmes Haut-Brion, the splendid Pessac-Léognan estate, is at the top of the rankings, an absolute favourite with our customers and the iDealwine team alike.
And gold, silver and bronze go to…
The wine that has currently sold the most on our En Primeur website is the splendid Pessac-Léognan Château les Carmes Haut-Brion. “As always, this wine offers the sensation of biting into a whole fruit, with its unique texture and structure. The palate is round and generous, bursting with red and black fruits leading to a subtly saline finish with a hint of blood orange. A distinctive profile that owes much to the inclusion of whole bunches in the blend (29%). The delicate bouquet is expressive and beautifully balanced, revealing delicate floral notes of iris, peony, and violet. Glass in hand, it’s easy to appreciate the precision behind the winemaking: careful ripeness monitoring, meticulous bunch selection, use of a densimetric sorting bath to ensure only the best berries made it through… An absolute favourite.”
In second place, we have the Pauillac of Château Lafite Rothschild. But be warned, our stock is depleting quickly. “When tasting this Pauillac legend, we found a charming wine in our glass which reveals notes of dark fruits such as plum, cherry and blackberry. These are joined by the floral aromas of violet, jasmine and elderflower. This great aromatic complexity just makes you want to try a sip. On the palate, the 2024 Lafite Rothschild is supple, delicate and elegant. The middle of the palate is slightly acidic with silky tannins and concludes in a long fruity finish.“
And in third place is Château Cheval Blanc from Saint-Émilion. “The harvest started on 18 September. Cheval Blanc’s radical decisions in 2024 (sorting and the use of a densimetric sorting bath) allowed them to harvest later (all while accepting to have some overripe grapes so that others could be picked at optimal ripeness) but led to a reduction in yield (28hl/ha instead of 39 hl/ha before sorting). But the sacrifices paid off as they have released a very fine wine. A dazzling, deep wine reveals notes of black fruits along with cedar and cigar boxes. It fills the palate with a beautiful structure that’s dense without being heavy, supple and perfectly balanced with a long finish. A favourite of ours.”
