On Sunday 8 March 2026, the 65th edition of the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wine auction took place in the prestigious setting of the Château du Clos de Vougeot. For the second year running, the sale was organised by iDealwine, bringing together collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts keen to secure a share of the estate’s latest vintage.
By the end of the afternoon, the auction had raised €1,526,000, representing a 91% increase on last year’s result. All the lots offered were sold – a clear indication of the market’s early confidence in the 2025 vintage.
A vintage that marks the end of an era
This year’s sale carried particular significance for the estate. The 2025 vintage is the last produced under the direction of Jean-Marc Moron, who has served as Technical Director since 1990. After 36 years at the helm, he is handing over the baton to Laurence Danel.
Early tastings have already revealed a vintage that combines structure with finesse, offering a profile that many tasters describe as quintessentially Burgundian.
In total, 19 wines went under the hammer: 18 reds spread across 79 pièces (barrels) and one white wine, offered in both a full barrel and a feuillette (half-barrel).
Although the growing season proved more generous than the difficult 2024 campaign, the harvest remains relatively modest. The estate produced 80.5 pièces in total, compared with a more typical production of between 100 and 150.
Reds stabilise, white sparks competition
After the particularly high average prices seen at the 2025 auction, the red wines saw a slight adjustment this year, reaching an average hammer price of €18,595 per pièce.
The white wine, by contrast, attracted particularly enthusiastic bidding. Produced in very limited quantities, it achieved an average price of €38,000 per barrel, highlighting the growing interest in rare white wines from the Côte de Nuits.
Les Saint-Georges cuvées lead the auction
Unsurprisingly, the highest prices of the sale were achieved by two cuvées from the prestigious Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Saint-Georges climat:
- Cuvée Hugues Perdrizet – €47,000
- Cuvée Georges Faiveley – €47,000
Meanwhile, the estate’s rare white wine, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Terres Blanches, reached €34,000 per pièce, marking a 26% increase compared with last year. The half-barrel offered alongside it sold for €23,000.
A charitable cuvée supporting Ani’nomade

As every year, the auction also highlighted a charitable initiative. The Cuvée des Bienfaiteurs, this year filled with a unique blend produced from the estate’s nine Premier Crus, was created in support of Ani’nomade, a Burgundy-based association specialising in animal-assisted therapy.
Rather than being auctioned, the wine was offered by subscription, with all proceeds going directly to the charity. The initiative proved a success, with 290 bottles purchased, raising €59,500 (a provisional figure that also includes personal donations).
Founded in 2010, Ani’nomade develops programmes centred on the therapeutic relationship between humans and animals, working with elderly people, individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
Encouraging signals for the market
For Cyrille Jomand, CEO of iDealwine and the auctioneer for the sale, the results send a reassuring message:
“In a context of unprecedented instability, this result confirms the resilience of prices despite slightly higher volumes, reflecting the high quality of the vintage.”
Guillaume Koch, Director of the Hospices Civils de Beaune, also welcomed the outcome:
“Given the relatively modest harvest, we are pleased with these results. Some wines once again confirmed their strong appeal among Burgundy enthusiasts, achieving prices usually associated with grand crus. The success of the auction is also a fitting tribute to Jean-Marc Moron and his 36 years of service.”

We’ll see you all again next year for the 66th edition of the auction, the beating heart of Burgundy’s solidarity. Stay tuned…
