No respite for iDealwine’s wine auction! See how perfect this selection of nearly 3,500 lots is. Old vintages, rare cuvées or legendary names: wine lovers are surely going to fall for one of these. Let’s check out these wines you should not miss!
You know it better than anyone else, and you have proved it to us in recent months: you are on the lookout for prestigious names, rare and atypical bottles, such as fortified or sweet wines, or old vintages. We therefore wonder here who will fall for a Madère 1920, rare whiskies and (very) mature bottles. Vintages cover almost a century (1920 to 2015), with many wonderful years such as 1989, 2005, 2009 and 2010. At the top you will not be surprised to find Petrus 1989.
Wine auction: Bordeaux, Burgundy, Loire and many others
Bordeaux glows once more, not only by the quality of its wines, but also by the diversity offered: prices go from €1 to €2500! Châteaux Beychevelle, Cos d’Estournel, Branaire-Ducru, Brane-Cantenac: from classics to superstars, the classified Grands Crus are well represented. Merlot fans will lean towards right bank wines by bidding on Petrus, Eglise-Clinet, Le Pin, La Fleur Petrus or even Angélus. Don’t be the last one to discover the rising appellations. From Libournais, we advise you once more Castillon-Côtes-de-Bordeaux. We can confess without doubt that we love the finesse and fruitiness of the wines from Clos Puy Arnaud, nicknamed the Burgundian in Bordeaux. We also dream of Pontet-Canet wines, first and unique classified growth to be certified biodynamic approach, and its mythical vintages like 2005, 2009 and 2010.
Burgundy also shows off several old vintages and classic bottles in this wine auction. In the front row, the rarities produced by Lalou-Bize Leroy. Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Clos de la Roche or Vosne-Romanée, the most legendary appellations are present, creating a collection of rare bottles from this confidential domain (nearly 300 bottles!). Some of the domains on which amateurs fantasize, have a starting bid at €1. This is how we find Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru 1996 from Comte Georges de Vogüé, Grands-Echézeaux 2000 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti or even Clos-de-la-Roche 2009 from Armand Rousseau. The rest of the selection is equally attractive: Noëllat, Bruno Clair and Coche-Dury are waiting for you. In white, (re)discover Aligoté with the know-how of Ramonet or Ponsot. You can also turn to Côte Chalonnaise, which offers good-value-for-money bottles. At iDealwine, we are a few to have a small weakness for the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation.
Let’s go further south to the Beaujolais, a region that is increasingly successful out of the Hexagon now! Morgon Côte-du-Py from Foillard, Château Thivin, Château des Jacques and many others are wines that you, dear enthusiasts have fought over during the last auction or fixed-price sale!
The breakthrough of Vin Jaune (yellow wine) is not for now. Meanwhile, you’ll find a taste of these wines during this sale. Pupillin, Overnoy, Jean Macle, Ganevat, all the illustrious producers of the region are present. Even without buying Vin Jaune, lovers of oxidative wines, with dried fruit and nutty notes can turn to Côtes du Jura, more affordable and remarkable quality.
From the Rhône, you’ll find many wines with good ageing potentials. After all, that is the advantage of our auctions! Thanks to iDealwine, impatient enthusiasts can afford ready-to-drink wines. With winter coming, we easily imagine ourselves tasting powerful wines with black fruit, leather and spice aromas. You too would give anything for Cornas from Auguste Clape, Châteauneuf-du-Pape from André Brunel, Côte-Rôtie from Guigal, Gigondas from La Bouïssière? Although it is younger, the Saint-Joseph from Gonon is worth the try, in this wine auction!
From the Loire, Clos Rougeard is back with its winning trio: Le Clos, Le Bourg and Les Poyeux. From Sancerre, go for François Cotat and Alphonse Mellot, and from Pouilly-Fumé, bid on the wines from Dagueneau.
In short, you will have understood that this auction is a real selection of our favourite domains and overflows with treasures from all over France! Trust us; you can bid with your eyes closed.
