Burgundy wine auction

Let’s kick off the month of February with an exceptional sale, one that will be of particular interest to fans of Burgundy. These new catalogues put certain names from this most prestigious of regions in the spotlight, many of these being the stuff of daydreams for wine lovers. Some of the finest to tickle your tastebuds include Romanée-Conti, Georges Roumier, and Arnaud Ente, but we’ve got plenty more up our sleeves, so here’s a summary of the bottles we think you should look out for…

Pride of place for Burgundy’s grands crus

Over 1,734 bottles from Burgundy await in this new auction, with some of the finest signatures, the finest vintages, and many of them ready to be savoured. If you’re after something truly special, what would you say to a magnificent Montrachet grand cru from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in its 1969 vintage? Heading a little further north in the region, you’ll find some beautiful lot of Chablis premier cru and grand cru from Domaine Raveneau. The variety from this estate is notable, with classic bottles, magnums, single-, double-, and triple-bottle lots, all ranging from 1980 to 2015.

This auction brings with it the chance for you to take home a two-bottle lot of Romanée-Saint-Vivant grand cru Les Quatre Journaux made by Louis Latour, at their perfect maturity from the 1989 vintage!

The Arnaud Ente estate is an emblematic name of the Meursault appellation, and Benoît Ente – his brother – is equally talented when it comes to growing and vinifying. 6 lots are available from the following appellations: Bourgogne, Bourgogne Aligoté, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault.

Finally, if you’re planning to pull out all the stops for a big occasion, 4 lots of Musigny grand cru from Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé are looking for a home. We’re talking about the real deal here, with 2020’s most expensive bottle being a 2001 Musigny from Domaine Leroy, which was sold for €17,499!

From Bordeaux, the rarities of Pomerol

The classic Bordeaux bottles up for bidding this time around are an exclusive little bunch. One of the stars of the region, Petrus has some superb vintages to offer here: 1990 and 2010. Not to be missed! Also from the coveted region of Pomerol are two exceptional châteaux: we have 4 lots from Château Lafleur (2014 and 2015) and a 6-bottle lot of 2017 Château la Violette.

Another outstanding cuvée is the Château la Mission Haut-Brion Cru Classé de Graves, which is up for sale in the spectacular vintage that is 1989.

If you’re a collector of fine bottles from this region, you’ll be delighted to know that we have no less than 33 bottles from Château Lafite Rothschild, and over 25 Château Margaux premier grand cru classé, all in superb vintages.

A little tour of the other regions

From the Loire valley, we have a nice surprise for you: 3 two-bottle lots of Clos Naudin’s 1990 Vouvray Goutte d’Or, an extremely rare bottle since it is made only when the vintage is deemed exceptional. And that’s not all, since 3 lots from Domaine du Collier are also up for auction in the beautiful 2009 and 2010 vintages. 6 bottles from Domaine Bel Air (2009, 2010, 2011), a go-to name in the world of organics, are also waiting for bids!

The Rhône is here represented by 3 bottles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape Pignan from Château Rayas in the superb 2009 vintage. For fans of natural wine, several lots from Domaine de la Grande Colline (2014, 2016, 2017) are also looking for a happy owner.

As for spirits, you won’t be disappointed, as we have three lots of 1878 Armagnac Très Vieille Réserve from the Caves Fauchon, as well as two lots of Japanese Nikka Yoichi whisky and Miyagikyo Rum.

Plenty of other lots are waiting, so have a good look and don’t miss out!
