Between the 1990 Musignys from Georges Roumier and the 1966 from Leroy SA, the 2006 and 2017 La Tâche, the 2008 La Romanée from Comte Liger-Belair, the Premiers de Bordeaux and the most recognised terroirs of each region, this auction offers you the crème de la crème of the world’s greatest wine terroirs. One thing is certain, lovers of illustrious Burgundies will be particularly pleased.
The greatest Burgundy terroirs
You might well think that the most prestigious (and most expensive) wine in Burgundy, and even in the world, is from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. You’re not far off, but for more than a year now, the Musigny cuvées of the Leroy estate have been taking the crown. The Côte de Nuits region is indeed reputed to be located on one of the greatest terroirs in the world, capable of conferring exceptional finesse to its wines. There’s no Leroy Musigny in this sale – it arrives later this month! -but there are several exceptional lots from the same appellation: 1990 Musignys from Georges Roumier, 1966 from Leroy SA, 2006 from Mugnier as well as bottles from Dominique Laurent, Jadot and Joseph Drouhin!
Other mythical Burgundy terroirs featured include: La Tâche from Domaine de La Romanée-Conti, to be found here in the 2017 vintage, as well as the Richebourg 2009 and the Romanée-Saint-Vivant 1997… but also La Romanée 2008 from Comte Liger-Belair and the Bonnes-Mares 2002 from Georges Roumier.
The greatest French terroirs
As always at iDealwine, you’ll be able to explore the greatest Bordeaux wines, and what’s more in beautiful mature vintages: Petrus 1985, Cheval Blanc 1986, Lafite Rothschild 2010… Don’t miss the superb lots of Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2010 either.
From the Rhône, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation obviously occupies a special place, especially when the bottles are signed by Emmanuel Reynaud: you will find several Château Rayas cuvées in this auction (1999, 2003, 2007, 2009). As for the Northern Rhône, the Côte-Rôtie from Jamet are a must-have, especially when it comes to the 1991 vintage!
In the Loire, Clos Rougeard flies above the fray with its unique Saumur-Champigny. In the same region, lovers of natural wines will no doubt dream of tasting the precious nectars of Jardins Esmeraldins, here available in the 2000 vintage. In the south of France, the Jurançon terroir is too often forgotten, even though it produces some marvellous wines, particularly sweet ones. Don’t miss the rare mixed case of Clos Joliette, containing the 1990 and 2000 vintages. Pierre Overnoy is a go-to producer for expressing the beauty of the Jura’s terroirs and here you’ll find his Poulsard cuvées, as well as Chardonnays from the Overnoy-Houillon estate.
The world’s greatest terroirs
The selection of Italian wines is quite impressive, with very old vintages of Biondi Santi (Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1955), but also vintages from Giuseppe Rinaldi, Bartolo Mascarello, Giovan Battista Burlotto and Giovanni Canonica.
From Germany, don’t miss the exceptional Rieslings of Klaus Keller, available in many vintages.
From Spain, we’ve got the finest of the country’s wines, L’Unico from Vega Sicilia, in a mature vintage, 1983 and in magnum.
