These auctions wear the colours of Burgundy, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sporting their best suits for the occasion. The greatest names of the region have indeed come together for this auction: DRC, Leroy, Auvenay, Bizot, Mugnier, Roumier, Jacky Truchot… We also have a great choice of Italian wines this time around: fine Amarones as well as mature Barolos. However, the auction retains a general reach with fine wines from other regions in the mix.
The crème de la crème of Burgundy
Let’s start by talking about the most prestigious wines that Burgundy has to offer. This sale offers not only several white wines from Domaine d’Auvenay but also various vintages from the ever-coveted Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, such as a 1996 Echezeaux. From Domaine Leroy, you’ll find the 2011 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux-Monts for example. For lovers of great natural wines, Domaine Bizot is a must-have that you can bid on here, with various lots of Echezeaux and Vosne-Romanée. Another Burgundian icon, the Georges Roumier estate is still drawing in keen bidders, and there are around fifty different lots up for grabs here. Interested in absolute rarities and lost estates? Why not for something from the Jacky Truchot estate!
As for the more reasonably priced wines, we can highlight the wonderful cuvées from the Henri Gouges estate, as well as the natural wines from Naudin-Ferrand and Dandelion, which are quite difficult to find. Do you dream of tasting the work of a true talent without breaking the bank? Why not try the Burgundy Passetoutgrain or the Aligoté cuvée from Emmanuel Rouget? As for the whites, linger over the batches of the Chablis stars Raveneau and Dauvissat, offered in a beautiful range of vintages.
Marvels from other regions
In Bordeaux, you can’t miss the presence of these many Petrus wines, the absolute icon of Pomerol, or magnums of 2010 Château Mouton-Rothschild. In Champagne, we have no doubt that the Lieux-dit de Selosse collection of cases will make for some happy bidders. In the Rhône, your heart might well be set on Jean-Louis Chave’s Hermitages, Guigal’s LA-LA-LA Côte-Rôties or Châteauneuf-du-Pape… In the Jura, some people swear by Pierre Overnoy’s yellow wines; the good news is that we have some of these in mature vintages. Finally, some tasty port wines from Quinta do Noval are also waiting for your bids.
Focus Italy: great Amarones and mature Barolos
