Top auction picks | Burgundy’s best

It’s no great secret that some of France’s – and the world’s – finest wines come from the region of Burgundy. It can feel like a puzzle to find them, though. Never fear, for our latest auction is positively brimming with top signatures from the illustrious region.

Burgundy’s greatest wines in one place

The great wine of the world’s most legendary estate, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and its eponymous grand cru, are available here in their 2016 and 2017 vintages; as is its exceptional La Tâche cuvée, for that matter. Others, such as Richebourg, also feature. So if you’re looking for something truly stunning, you’ve come to the right auction.

Two of the region’s most-prized estates, Domaines d’Auvenay and Leroy, both cultivated by Lalou Bize-Leroy, are also nicely represented. From Auvenay, you’ll find bottles of Bâtard-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières, and even the Meursaults Les Narvaux. The 1er Cru Les Gouttes d’Or, considered to be one of the appellation’s finest climats, is here carried by a beautiful minerality and tension. From Leroy, the 2009 Richebourg is a treat not to be missed, much like the Clos-de-Vougeot and the 1999 Corton Grand Cru Les Renardes. In all, more than thirty lots from the estate feature in this auction, setting the bar rather high for quality and hammer price.

While the whites from Domaine d’Auvenay are now undoubtedly Burgundy’s most sought-after, those from Coche-Dury, a long-standing icon of the Meursault appellation, are never far behind… The Corton-Charlemagne appears here in beautiful, mature vintages including the 2005 and 2015.

One last regional top pick to finish? The Musigny cuvée from Faiveley, a wine made in Burgundy’s most prestigious appellation.

Finally, don’t forget that we don’t have only heavy price tags in stock! The Irancy cuvées from Colinot and the Mâcon from Nicolas Maillet should stay at a reasonable price. One to note for the Burgundy-curious among you.

Great wines from elsewhere?

If you’d like to get your hands on the finest that Bordeaux has to offer, from both the right and left banks, in one fell swoop, we have a solution for you. It comes in the form of a mixed case, quite the rarity! In this auction, you’ll find a 2005 Primeurs case containing bottles in this vintage from Châteaux Petrus, Mouton Rothchild, Lafite Rothschild, Cheval Blanc, Latour, and Margaux.

In the Rhône, Château Rayas is an estate that continues to distinguish itself from the crowd under the masterful watch of Emmanuel Reynaud. In this auction, you’ll find the excellent 2007 vintage from this legendary property. Made in the same year, there’s the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin from Château de Beaucastel, another highly-coveted bottle that’s just waiting for your bids.

There’s no shortage of fine champagne, either, with appearances from Jacques Selosse’s Lieux-dits Collection, Bollinger’s 1986 Grande Année, and Roederer’s 1985 Cristal all vying for a place in your cellar.

As per usual, the best way to find the wine of your dreams is to browse through our catalogues. So we’ll leave you to your reading, daydreaming…and bidding!
