iDealwine’s La Cave | October additions

The iDealwine team hasn’t been sitting idle recently! We present you with our latest vineyard discoveries, and some of our new favourites…

In this month of October, iDealwine’s La Cave has been topped up with a first-class selection from the Rhône, with recent vintages from the region’s best ambassadors, including Thierry Allemand, Domaine Jamet, Clos Saint-Jean, Clusel Roch, François Villard and Yves Cuilleron. Jean-Michel Stéphan’s Vin de France 2018 has simply stunning freshness and purity of fruit; this natural winemaker’s wines based in Côte-Rôtie are becoming ever more sought after.

In Bordeaux, we’re presenting one of the region’s rare natural wines: the Vin de France Virevolte from La Closerie des Moussis, a small domain created in 2009. More well-known names are also available in this fixed-price sale, such as Château Angélus 2015, Petrus 2013, 2014 et 2016, Lafite-Rothschild 2015, as well as lots of second wines.

The Champagne offering is equally excellent, with for instance a vintage Blanc de Blancs 2010 from Jacques Lassaigne, or a more vinous Blanc de Noirs Brut 20102 from Philipponnat. Both are truly fine gastronomic champagnes. How could we forget Pol Roger and its Blanc de Blancs produced exclusively from grands crus and aged for 7 years…

In the Loire, you’ll find the 2014 Sancerre Le Mont Damné from Dagueneau, the 2018 from both Guiberteau and François Cotat, and wines from Stéphane Bernaudeau, whose wines we have seen blow up at auction in recent months: make the most of this rare opportunity to get your hands on the bottles at fixed price!

In need of sun? Head to the south of France, and taste the work of one of Roussillon’s iconic producers: domain Gauby. We particularly recommend their top cuvée, the legendary La Muntada. New vintages from Mas Daumas Gassac – whose wines are very unusual blends for the region – are also available. In Provence, opt for Château de Roquefort’s Côtes de Provence. Last but not least, try a Jurançon (dry or sweet) from Camin Larredya, a recent favourite of the team.

Heading east to the mountains, the wonderful trio of Alsace, Jura and Savoy are goldmines for delicious vinous treats. Domains Ostertag, Berthet-Bondet and Les Vignes du Paradis are just some examples of the gems in iDealwine’s La Cave…

To end our whistle stop tour abroad, we take you to Spain and more specifically the spectacular Sierra de Gredos region, where Comando G are true masters of Grenache. In a somewhat cooler region, we thoroughly recommend the Pinot Noir from Greywacke, a New Zealand domain created by Kevin Judd that is now considered one of the best in the country. Our tour of the continents ends in South America, in Chile, where Bodegas Viu is a pioneer of the Colchagua Valley. Its cuvées of Carménère and Malbec are absolute must-haves.
