We’ve compiled a wondrous selection of the greatest examples from the South. Read on to see what’s in store in this latest fixed-price sale…
The finest southern French wine
Starting in France, explore the delights from the Languedoc, Roussillon, Provence, Corsica, the South West and the Rhône.
From the South West you’ll find sublime Jurançon from the esteemed Clos Joliette, Domaine Cauhapé, Guirardel and Charles Hours. For those who haven’t’ yet discovered the elegant and balanced wines currently coming out of Cahors, be sure to try the offerings from Château du Cèdre, Clos Triguedina, Mas Del Perié and Cosse-Maisonneuve. The Madiran AOC offers up some first-class bottles for cellaring: the wines from Château Montus and Château Bouscassé are wonderful after 15 or 20 years! And have you ver tasted a Basque wine? We strongly recommend those from Domaine Arretxea that pair perfectly with the local cuisine.
The Rhône features an impressive selection of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin, Marcoux, le Vieux Télégraphe, Pierre André) and bottles from some of the most exciting appellations in the surroundings: Vacqueyras (Roucas Toumba), Gigondas (La Bouïssière), Saint-Peray (Auguste Clape, Domaine du Tunnel), Cairannes (Marcel Richaud, Oratoire Saint-Martin) and even some wines from the Ardèche (Domaine des Accoles).
The cult wines from Domaine de la Grange des Pères in the Languedoc are also available (in both red and white), as are the offerings from Domaine Peyre-Rose (including some mature vintages) and those from the wonderful Domaine des Aurelles, Mas de Daumas Gassac and Montcalmès.
The Roussillon offers up plenty of mature vintages including several Vins Doux Naturels (Rivesaltes, Banyuls and Maurys), some dating back to 1874. You’ll also find the star of this region, Domaine Gauby, Clos des Fées and Olivier Pithon.
The wines from Domaine de Trévallon (red and white) are excellent wines to cellar and prove that there is far more to Provence than just rosé! As will the wines from Henri Milan and some of the excellent domains in Bandol such as Domaine de le Bégude, Château Canadel, La Tour du Bon, Château de Bellet and Domaine Tempier.
Finally, be sure to peruse the selection of Corsican wine, a region that offers ups truly unique bottles. The best names from the island are all here: Comte Abbatucci, Clos Canarelli, Yves Leccia, Clos Signadore, Terra Vecchia, E. Croce and Clos Poggiale.
The best from the rest of the world
From Spain you’ll find all the biggest names, including Benjamin Romeo, Vega Sicilia and Alvaro Palacios, not to mention some of the best kept secrets from this country: Artadi, Mas Doix and Bodega Ossian.
Waving the flag for Italy are some of the finest producers: Dal Forno Romano, Roberto Voerzio, Tenuta San Guido (Sassicaia), Angelo Gaja, Duemani, Querciabella and Elisabetta Foradori.
