2015 was glorious. Seldom is a year so kind to all the French winemaking regions and this vintage will certainly go down in history. We are delighted to bring you this fixed-price sale showcasing the best this vintage has to offer.
Launching a sale of 2015 bottles at the beginning of 2018 might seem strange but, as we begin to see many wines being released from their cellars (particularly our Bordeaux en primeur purchases), the timing couldn’t be more excellent. Perhaps even more excellent, however, is that 2015 was an astonishing year all over France.
Starting with Bordeaux, we are delighted to finally offer our 2015 en primeur purchases. We aren’t going to beat around the bush, 2015 is being labelled as the vintage of the century and this sale features bottles from the likes of Château Margaux, les Carruades de Lafite Rothschild, La Conseillante, Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Clarence de Haut-Brion but also Domaine de Chevalier, Lynch Bages, Pontet-Canet, Haut-Bailly, Léoville Poyferré, Léoville Barton, Pape Clément, Smith Haut Lafitte, Prieuré Lichine and Beychevelle. There are also some gems to be found from Siran, le Sartre, Belle-Vue, Haut-Bergey, Clos Puy Arnaud and le Taillan. With prices starting from €10 it will be difficult to resist the offerings from this exceptional vintage that will cellar beautifully.
Burgundy experienced a hot and sun filled summer in 2015 and the resulting wines are varied, plentiful and of exceptional quality. You will find all the greatest references here, from Leflaive, Dugat-Py and Ramonet to Clos de Tart and Trapet, not to mention some excellent sipping wines from the Mâcon such as those of Nicolas Maillet that start at just €15. Grand Burgundian Chardonnays are well accounted for in this sale which includes a Montrachet from Etienne Sauzet, a Chevalier-Montrachet from Leflaive, a Bâtard-Montrachet from Ramonet and Henri Boillot and even a wonderful Meursault from Mikulski, as well as many Chablis. If you’re after a red, there is plenty to be had, including offerings from Domaine de Croix, Jean Fournier, Château de Chamirey and Follin-Arbelet.
2015 was celebrated in the Rhône, where it was hailed as one of the best vintages in recent history (especially in the northern Rhône). This catalogue features some of the biggest names from the Côte-Rôtie: Jean-Michel Stephan (a natural and organic producer), Jasmin, Othéguy and even Yves Cuilleron. You’ll find bottles from all the best appellations here, with prices starting from an attractive €8. From the southern Rhône we have some wonderful Châteauneufs including bottles from Domaine de Marcoux, Beaucastel, the sublime Cuvée du Centenaire from Domaine Les Cailloux and La Mordorée. If you’re after exceptional value, be sure to take a look at some of the Cairannes from Marcel Richaud or the Côtes-du-Rhône Rasteau from Elodie Balme, not to mention the Vacqueyras from Roucas Toumba and the Crozes-Hermitage from Domaine les 4 Vents, all for under €20.
The Loire also enjoyed a fruitful 2015, particularly the whites and the offerings from the superb Domaine de l’Ecu are unmissable. We also love the Sancerres from Alphonse Mellot and François Cotat and the Montlouis from Domaine de la Taille aux Loups. From Beaujolais you can enjoy the successful 2015 bottles of Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, the best of which can be cellared for tens of years. The output from Marcel Lapierre, Georges Descombes, Domaine de la Grand’cour, les Terres Dorées and even Château Thivin is marvellous. From the southern French vineyards, we highly recommend trying the Cuvée Coume Gineste from Gauby, the white from Trévallon and the Les Glorieuses from Clos Marie. Corsica also offers up some delights: Clos Canarelli, Comte Abbatucci and Yves Leccia. The wines from Mas del Perié and Château du Cèdre showcase the up and coming region of Cahors at its very best. Finally, will you be tempted by a wine from the Basque country? The offerings from Domaine Arretxea are full of character!
