Contrary to our general sales with a large diversity of origins, this one is particularly focused on Bordeaux and Burgundy – not that surprising as both regions are known for the ageing potential of their wines.
In Bordeaux, check out the Calon Ségur 1971, Giscours 1988, Château Belgrave 1996 and Branaire Ducru 2004. For reasonable amounts, you’ll also find a sharp selection of crus bourgeois: Martinens, Noaillac, Pontac Lynch, Pibran and Villegeorge. However, if you are ready to reach the grands crus level, you’ll have plenty of choice as this Palmer 1990, Pape Clément 2005 and Pavie 2000.
From Burgundy, if you or some of your friends are turning 40, you are lucky to access plenty of the 1976 (a great vintage in Burgundy): Charmes Chambertin from domaine Perrot-Minot or La Romanée from domaine Liger-Belair for example? All top signatures are featured: Armand Rousseau, Leflaive, Dominique Laurent, Lucien Boillot and Méo-Camuzet. Important to note also the Richebourg 1985 from Gros Frère & Sœur, Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Les Sentiers 1994 from domaine Laurent, or Bâtard Montrachet 2002 from domaine Blain Gagnard.
Sweet wines lover? We have many Sauternes. Clos Haut Peyraguey 2003, Château Coutet 2001, Suduiraut 1996, or Yquem 1995? In Alsace, a stunning Gewurztraminers vendanges tardives 1989 from Henri Fleck, in Loire the Vouvray Le Mont 1ere Trie 2005 from Huet, and in Tokay a 1988 that reached perfect maturity.
In Champagne, quantities are limited but quality definitely here: cuvée Dégorgement Tardif 1995 from Jacquesson, Comtes de Champagne 2000 from Taittinger, and blanc de blancs Le Mesnil 1983 from Salon. Where else can you access them at these prices? In Rhône, don’t miss the Hermitage Chante Alouette 1996 from Chapoutier, the Châteauneuf du Pape 1998 from Clos des Papes, or a Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 2005 from Guigal… all these wines will sell quickly.
In other regions, check the Syrah Léone 2003 from domaine Peyre Rose. In Loire, a series of magnums from Clos de l’Echo 2003 from René Couly and Insolite 2001 from domaine des Roches Neuves. In Spain nice Abadia Retuerta and Faustino Martinez.
Enjoy but don’t lose a minute!
