Fasten your seatbelt! The latest sale of rare and ready to drink wines is under way: top up your cellar with this sale brimming with fine wines…
A mature Bordeaux is always an exceptional experience. It’s the kind of wine that reaches greatness and brings a little soul to this world… Naturally these wines are best kept for special occasions, to be tasted with a dish of red meat AND in good company… One can easily bet that a Château-Mouton-Rothschild 2009, a Château-Haut-Brion 2010 or a Château-la-Conseillante 1990 should please most wine lovers. But for those who like their Bordeaux even older, at least 30 years old, iDealwine also has everything you need: Petrus 1988, Léoville-las-cases 1986, 1985 and 1974, Haut-Bailly 1985, Mouton-Rothschild in the mythical 1982, or 1978, 1975, Pontet-Canet 1982, Angélus 1979, Cheval Blanc 1985, Beychevelle 1980, Pavie 1975 and even Château Latour 1968 or Château Margaux 1974. We’re sure you’ll go mad for old dessert wines such as Rabaud-Promis 1976 and Climens 1979. The best thing about this sale is that amongst these little wonders, prices start from 12€, with the Château Tour Haut-Caussan 2002! 😉
We often open wines far too early. And yet the big names of the Rhone valley are those which have a lot to gain from aging, be it Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôties or many others. We’ve put aside several bottles which will make a splash on your dining tables this winter, to go with red meat or game, such as Domaine Pegaü’s cuvée Da Capo, offered in large sizes (balthazar, mathusalem and double-magnum), Rayas in the 2009 or 2003 vintage, Château d’Ampuis 2001, Auguste Clape 2010 (Cornas), Jean-Louis Chave 2002 (Hermitage), La Turque 1996, La Landonne in the 2005 and 1995 vintage… Our great value offers can be found in the Oratoire Saint-Martin 1999 (22€), or Pierre and Jérôme Coursodon’s Saint-Joseph Paradis Saint-Pierre 2006.
In Burgundy, wine reach maturity at an earlier age, but it’s nevertheless always a pleasure to taste the greatest signatures in ready-to-drink vintages: how about a La Tâche 1996 or 2001 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, a Vosne-Romanée premier cru Au Cros Parantoux 1997 or a 2006 Méo-Camuzet, or even a Chevalier-Montrachet 1995 from Olivier Leflaive?! We also have some old Bonnes-Mares, Clos de la Roche et Morey-Saint-Denis from Domaine Arlaud in the 1976 vintage. There again, prices start at a humble 15€, and there are bags of fantastic bottles to be had for under 30€, such as the Marsannay 2010 from Joseph Roty or Domaine Saint-Germès’ meursqult Les Tessons 2001.
Briefly passing through the Loire, there are several ready-to-drink Clos Rougeard up for grabs, including the Saumur Brézé, but also some great Vouvrays (Huet, Clos Naudin), which in time gain much complexity, and finally some superb Sancerres such as those from Alphonse Mellot ou François Cotat. In this region more so than in others, great value-for-money cuvées abound, starting from the already delicious Saumur-Champigny La Chaintrée from René-Noël Legrand.
You’ll also find some of the best vintage champagnes, for instance the Blanc de blancs Extra-Brut 2005 from Selosse, R.D. 1988 and 2004 from Bollinger, Cristal in the 1990 or 2004 vintage from Louis Roederer, Philipponnat’s Clos des Goisses 2005, Belle Epoque 1986 from Perrier Jouët, Dom Pérignon in the 1980 or 1982 vintage, Cuvée des Princes 1989 from Venoge, or else Jacquesson Dégorgement Tardif 1995.
It’s of course impossible to speak about them all, but trust us, this sale is brimming with marvelous, ready-to-drink wines. Jura wines which have reached full maturity are a great place to start, especially when they carry Overnoy’s signature! Cognacs, Armagnacs, Rivesaltes and dessert wines are also on sale.
Watch out: first come, first served. You have been warned J.
