A single lot of 28 double magnums of Château d’Yquem, with vintages between 1983 and 2011, is on auction on iDealwine until 1st April 2015.
Rare, unique, very scare! All of these adjectives can apply to this collection of double magnums currently on offer at iDealwine until the 1st of April. In 15 years, our warehouses have never had the privilege of housing such a vertical in this format. And for good reason! Patiently collected by an admirer of this famous first growth, the King of Sauternes, this collection was nearly forgotten in a Luxembourg cellar… until a few weeks ago!
28 shades of Yquem
All vintages of Yquem produced between 1983 and 2011 have been pooled into a single lot, offering an exceptional range of colours, from golden yellow to deep amber. A feast for the eyes as well! 1992 is the only year missing from this series – there was no botrytis that year and no Sauternes was consequently produced under the Château d’Yquem label. Some of the other bottles in this collection are particularly rare, like the 2000 and 2004 vintages, where only microscopic volumes were produced. Note that the double magnum format of Château d’Yquem only came into existence in 1982 and this is the only vintage missing from the collection. The buyer will have to try and complete this already exceptional series! A real challenge…
The bottles are packaged in their original wooden cases (with the exception of the double magnum of 1990) and have all been perfectly preserved and the labels are in impeccable condition.
An important point is that, from a few weeks ago, Yquem won’t be doing any more reconditioning of bottles.
This auction closed on the 1st of April 2015.
