3,000 fine wines & spirits – Auction closed 16th March

online-16-marsWith over 3,000 lots auctioned in this sale, such volume and diversity should please many wine amateurs. Lovers of Bordeaux and Burgundy will be spoiled as both regions represent about two thirds of the lots, even though many other great wine regions from France and abroad are also represented.

Petrus comes back with a series of vintages from the 90s (1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996): fans of the legendary Pomerol will be spoiled for choice, and can also go up time until 1959. For those looking for an absolute gem, iDealwine auctions this case of 9 Bordeaux myths from 2000 including Petrus, Ausone, Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Lafite, Mouton, Latour, Margaux and La Mission Haut-Brion. For more reasonable budgets, check Larrivet-Haut-Brion 2000 (€27 estimate), Sociando-Mallet 2005 (€40), or Haut-Marbuzet 2000 (€42), Calon Ségur 1989 (€75) and Beychevelle 2005 (€80).

In Burgundy, giving you an exhaustive list of dream bottles would be too long, but just note three of them: Romanée-Conti 1984, Richebourg from Henri Jayer 1984, and Corton-Charlemagne from Domaine Coche-Dury 2006. Access the legends in a click!

And for more affordable options in Burgundy, you might want to bid on this Beaune-Greves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus 2010 from Bouchard Père et Fils (€72 estimate), this magnum of Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale 2009 from Mugnier (€120) and this Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru Les Cazetiers 2010 from Armand Rousseau (€150).

The last third of this auction provides nice eclecticism from ome of the most acclaimed producers.

Note the Grange des Pères, Mas Daumas Gassac and Mas Jullien in Languedoc, Domaine de Trévallon, a great discovery from Provence, a rare lot of two magnums of Salon 1988, Jacquesson 1995 (€110 estimate) or Comtes de Champagne 1999 from Taittinger (€90). In Rhône, have a look at the Cornas from Thierry Allemand, the Châteauneuf from Beaucastel, Hermitage from Jean-Louis Chave and many more bottles or larger formats from Auguste Clape, Domaine Jamet, Clos Saint-Jean… In Loire Valley ​​Clos Rougeard with its prestigious wines (Le Bourg 2010 estimated €300 or Les Poyeux 2010 €170) and its more « simple » Saumur-Champigny (2010 at €60).

Last but not least, take a look at the spirits offered in this sale: Cognac (Grande Champagne 1893 from Delamain) or Whisky (Karuizawa, Sherry Single Cask No. 152 1981)…
