Their names are 2005 Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, 1945 Mouton-Rothschild, 1947 Petrus, Henri Bonneau’s 1990 Cuvée spéciale, 1959 Dom Pérignon rosé, 1953 Krug Private cuvée, 2016 Screaming Eagle and Banffshire Distillery’s Balvenie 50-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky…And they have us daydreaming. Yet, even at iDealwine, these most rare and specialist wines stand out from the crowd!
In Burgundy, we are offering some of the greatest white wines, starting with the singularly rare Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often considered the best white wine in the world, offered here in its 2005 vintage and accompanied by bottles of Corton-Charlemagne and Meursault from the Coche-Dury domain, as well as Chevalier-Montrachet from Domaine Leflaive. Alongside these is a selection of Pinot Noir that needn’t feel inferior: it includes the 2008 La-Tache, also from the DRC, a 1961 Musigny from the Compte-Georges de Vogué domain, Dugat-Py’s 2015 Chambertin, Armand Rousseau’s 2005 Clos de Bèze Chambertin, and Georges Roumier’s 1999 Bonnes-Mares. As you can see, mature vintages are well-represented, and as usual there are plenty of deals to discover.
In Bordeaux, let’s start as we mean to go on with the very rare 1945 Château Mouton-Rothschild, 1947 Petrus and a double-magnum of 1986 Petrus. Those who wish to restock their cellar or buy several lots can find deals with multiple lots, such as a lot of 12 bottles of 1971 Château Trotanoy or of 1991 Château Lafite-Rothschild, or even 12 bottles of 1986 Château Ausone. With all of Bordeaux’s most mythical names up for grabs, it would be impossible not to find what you’re looking for. Undoubtedly there will be countless great deals to be had here as well…
In the Rhône Valley, get ready to face a veritable army of Château Rayas and Fonsalette: if you’ve dreamt of tasting the legendary Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it’s now or never. And yet another icon now within your reach is Henri Bonneau’s special cuvée, in its 1990 vintage, or, less well-known to the general public (though not to the informed amateur), the Cornas from Alain Verset (nephew of Noel Verset) and Thierry Allemand.
As for other regions, don’t miss out on our old vintage champagnes such as the 1959 Dom-Pérignon rosé, a magnum of 1979 Krug Collection or even the magnums of R.D. Bollinger (1976, 1988, 1996). In the Loire, you will certainly discover some divine lots from the Clos Rougeard estate, most notably the 1989 releases. As for the Languedoc, take note of the rare Methuselah of 1998 Mas Daumas Gassac. And don’t let the Californian Screaming Eagle or the Spanish Unico de la Vega Sicilia (1960) pass you by.
Don’t forget that iDealwine is putting up for auction one of the most outstanding offers in the world of spirits, most notably for the rarest whiskies. And this sale is the perfect illustration. You will find, for example, the Scottish Balvenie 50-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Banffshire Distillery and a 30-year-old cask of Japanese Single Bourbon Honshu-Nagano Karuizawa. Other wonderful whiskies, cognacs, brandies and rums are the hidden gems of this sale…Enthusiasts take note!
