Auction | The greatest masters of winemaking

To start the year, and indeed the decade, in the best way, we’ve brought together the most beautiful labels from the world of wine at the heart of our auction. Look carefully, as each region has its share of lovely surprises.

The finest that Bordeaux has to offer can be found in this auction. A great fan of the region is putting some bottles up for sale from the famous Châteaux of Mouton-Rothschild, Petrus and Sociando-Mallet. To best savour the most beautiful expressions of the Gironde, turn to stylish lots like those of 2003 and 2005 Duclot. If you’re looking to celebrate the new decade in a particularly thoughtful way, you might like to try wines from the three previous ones, enjoying vintages from 2010, 2000 and 1990. In this auction, you’ll find a 2010 Château Angélus, to drink now or to age for a few more years, a superb 2000 Château Lafite-Rothschild, as well as some lovely representatives from 1990 like a Château d’Yquem and a magnum from Château Pavie.

Now to Burgundy, where you’re sure to be impressed by two exceptional magnums of La Tâche and Richebourg, both from 2000, by Domaine de la Romanée Conti. Are you a big fan of this iconic wine? Well this auction is made for you, and you’ll be able to discover the domain’s finest cuvées (Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grand-Echezeaux, Echezeaux) in a plethora of vintages such as 2010, 2005, 2004…all the way back to 1969! For those of you seeking other things, fear not, for there are many other regional stars up for grabs like Georges Roumier and his Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses, the famous Chevalier-Montrachet wines from Domaine Leflaive, as well as Les Perrières and Les Rougeots, two striking Meursaults from Domaine Coche-Dury.

The Rhône Valley has brought forth its inimitable Côte-Rôtie trio from Maison Guigal: La Mouline, La Turque et La Landonne. The biodynamic Chapoutier and its neighbour Paul Jaboulet Aîné are represented by their Hermitages, whilst Château Rayas and Henri Bonneau are brilliant once again with their Châteauneuf-du-Pape for cellaring.

In the Loire Valley, icons await you. Consider, for example, Asteroide from Dagueneau, some of whose cuvées are signed by Didier, and others by his son Louis-Benjamin. For those who like Clos Rougeard there are the Le Bourg and Les Poyeux cuvées whilst fans of Nicolas Joly will be pleased to see his Coulée de Serrant available, a biodynamic icon. And to finish on a sweeter note, let’s not omit Clos Naudin’s Vouvray Goutte d’Or!

Champagne is represented here in large formats and mature vintages. Magnums of 1979 Krug or 1985 Cristal from Roederer as well as the 735 cuvée from Domaine Jacquesson are just a few examples. We challenge you to find the methuselah of 1983 Pommery Sérigraphie hidden among the auction’s 5000 lots.

Since we’re talking about large formats, and since we like them so much, we suggest you take a little tour of the Jura where you can acquire magnums of Grandes Teppes Vieilles Vignes from Jean-François Ganevat as well as Pierre Overnoy’s Arbois-Pupillin in its 1985, 1988, 1989 and 2000 vintages.

In the natural vein, you can also look to Beaujolais, which today presents a magnum of 3.14 from Jean Foillard, a reference that enthusiasts were able to try at the Grand Tasting salon last November.

iDealwine’s auctions are also a unique chance to find some beautiful bottles of spirits such as Japanese whiskies from Karuizawa and Chichibu, a 1991 vintage from the Scottish distillery Macallan, cognacs from Maison Delamain, as well as the Clément rum produced in Martinique during the 1950s.

Don’t miss this opportunity to taste the work of these wine masters by discovering the rest of the lots for sale in this auction. We hope you make some pleasing purchases!
