Auctions | Summer inspiration

Clos Rougeard

Grands crus, sipping wines, mature vintages both French and foreign… Make the most of your summer to top up your cellar! We guide you through just a fraction of our 4,238 lots currently up for auction.

Calling all lovers of mature vintages

For those of you with a penchant for mature vintages but neither the place nor patience to age your wines: our array of bottles from between 1858 and 2018 is the answer. You’ll find regions renowned for the aging potential of their wine, with Bordeaux on top. Myriad grands crus classes await you, including Château Angélus 1995 in Saint-Emilion, Château Beychevelle 2005 in Saint-Julien, Château Haut-Bailly 2000. If you prefer whites, turn to Burgundian Chardonnays, such as the Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2003 from Dauvissat, the Corton-Charlemagne 1997 from Domaine Bonneau du Martray (of which some vines are rented by DRC) and Domaine d’Auvenay’s Meursault Les Narvaux 2004. We shouldn’t, however, neglect southern wines, with their exceptional aging potential. In the Rhône, enjoy the finesse of Syrah with a Hermitage La Chappelle 1996 from Paul Jaboulet Aîné or the complexity of a Châteauneuf 2005 from Château Rayas.

Around the world

Enjoy our selection of ready-to-drink wines from further afield. With a Château Musar 1991 from Lebanon, a Priorat 2012 from the Spanish Clos Mogador and Granato 2006 from the superb Elisabetta Foradori of Piedmont, and many more, the choice is vast.

Sparkling, white and red… rare gems all round

If you’re still looking for that rare gem to complete your collection, look no further. Our Champagne selection includes both grower champagnes and prestigious houses, with, respectively: Anselme Selosse, Jacquesson, Agrapart and Krug, Perrier-Jouët.

Looking for a white wine? For something vibrant, we present the Bouzeron Aligoté from Aubert and Pamela de Villaine; for powerful, Château l’Etoile’s vin jaune L’Etoile 1976; for rare, the Vin de France Sonorité du Vent 2014 from Domaine des Miroirs; for rich and complex the Vouvray Le Mont 2008 from Domaine Huet.

In this warm month of July, opt for the delicacy of Pinot Noir grown in the Loire, with the Sancerre Génération XIX 2005 from Alphonse Mellot and in Burgundy of course, with the Bonnes-Mares 2010 from Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier. Another delicate, suitably summery alternative is the Beaujolais, embodied here in the Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent 2015 from Louis-Claude Desvignes and the Moulin-à-Vent Dernier Souffle 2012 from Richard Rottiers. For complex, and even generous, dense nectars, Clos Rougeard’s Saumur-Champigny Le Bourg 2006 is the answer.

Sumptuous sipping wines

Finishing on a fairly meditative note, we cannot recommend the following sipping wines enough: Altenberg de Bergheim 1996 (Gewurztraminer Sélection de Grains Nobles) from Marcel Deiss, Château d’Yquem 1990, Porto 2000 from Quinta Do Noval and Rivesaltes 1989.

We hope this far from exhaustive list will inspire you. Happy bidding!
