Auctions | iDealwine world tour, featuring 6,400 wines

Let’s start off this tour in the New World. In South Africa, you’ll find the Vin de Constance from Klein Constantia, Napoleon’s favourite wine. New Zealand offers a very fine alternative to Burgundian Pinot Noir: that of Central Otago from Cloudy Bay. At that price, it’s quite simply irresistible. As for the USA, the intensity of Cabernet Sauvignon is showcased in the wines from Mondavi Winery and Opus Wine.

The Old World is not lacking in these auctions, either. Lovers of Riesling might say that the best offerings come from Germany, more precisely the Mosel. Let yourself be tempted by the sweet Riesling from Fritz Haag, the Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese. Still in the east, and with a similarly rich and delicious profile, we particularly recommend Hungarian Tokajs, in the 1979 and 2006 vintages – to share, or to cellar! The most iconic wines of Spain are also available in these auctions, with for instance Unica 1996 from Vega Sicilia, Flor de Pingus from Peter Sisseck and Vina Tondonia Reserva from the Lopez family in Heredia. As for Italy, try an Amarone della Valpolicella from Romano dal Forno, an extremely concentrated that’s not quite dry, given the ripened grapes used in the production method. A superb selection of Super Tuscans, Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti also await you.

And that’s not all. These auctions offer French fine wine galore. In Alsace, an astounding variety of vintages (1976-2013) of Riesling from Clos Sainte-Hune is available, as are Château Thivin’s concentrated Côte-de-Brouilly, particularly the cuvée Zaccharie. Add to that six bottles of Haut-Brion 1989, Romanée-Conti 2016, Figari 2015 from Clos Canarelli, Coteaux-du-Languedoc 1998 from Prieuré de Saint-Jean de Bébian, and Guigal’s La-La wines, and the collection is quite simply beautiful.

We hope that you’ve enjoyed this little tour of our favourite winemaking regions: as always, don’t hesitate to browse through the catalogues yourself, you never know where these wines may take you…

Happy bidding!
