Auction top picks | The wine of your dreams

Highlights in this new sale include a 2000 Mouton Rothschild, a 1990 Cheval Blanc, and a 1950 Yquem, as well as bottles from Coche-Dury, Georges Roumier, Mugnier, Bizot, Prieuré-Roch, and Madeira cuvées from as far back as 1808!

Fine Bordeaux, fine vintages

Fans of top Bordeaux bottles have plenty to be pleased about in this auction. With Caisses Duclot sitting alongside grands crus in top vintages, some of them already quite mature, there are some real treats to be had. 2009 Haut-Brion, 1986 Petrus, 2000 Mouton Rothschild, 1990 Lafite Rothschild, and 2010 Ausone are just a few of the exceptional bottles waiting for you. Sauternes lovers will also be happy to see a 1938 Yquem, a 1989 Coutet, a 1937 Château Gilette, a 1945 Clos Haut Peyraguey, and a 1947 Climens; layers of history in the form of liquid gold.

Burgundy shines bright

Burgundy is the true home of Pinot Noir, but we mustn’t forget about the region’s prestigious white wine production. The top names from this category include Coche-Dury – whose 2015 and 2004 Corton-Charlemagne are featured here – Arnaud Ente, Pierre-Yves Colin Morey, and Bizot. Classic reds, made from Burgundy’s traditional Pinot, include bottles from Georges Roumier (Chambolle-Musigny premier cru), Armand Rousseau, Prieuré Roch, and Comte Liger-Belair.

The wine of your dreams

Beyond these two classic regions, this auction is bursting with bottles from top domains across France. The Rhône is known for its cellaring cuvées, and here we have 1990 and 2010 Hermitages cuvées from Jean-Louis Chave, 2007 and 2009 Château Rayas, and the natural cuvées of La Grande Colline and Anglore.

The Loire’s legendary dessert wines await from the superb Clos Naudin: the 1990 Vouvray Goutte d’Or features in the selection. Domaine Dageneau’s landmark cuvée, the Pouilly-Fumé Astéroïde, is available in its 2010 cuvée. We’ve seen an increasing interest in cuvées from Auvergne, this time including the Gone to Hail cuvée by Pierre Beauger in magnum format. Other names to note include Jardins Esmeraldins and Stéphane Bernaudeau.

For an upcoming special occasion, we have some wonderful Champagne cuvées such as the 1959 Cristal from Roederer, the 2002 Krug Vintage, and the 1966 Comtes de Champagne from Taittinger.

We should also highlight some exceptional bottles of very mature Madeira, including JS Terrantez dating from 1808, 1810, and 1812, as well as a Novidade Frasqueira Particular 1815, and an 1860 Joao Romao Teixeira Campanario.
