An auction to start the summer in style. We have bottles from Petrus, la Romanée-Conti, Lafite Rothschild, Guigal, Château Rayas, and Dom Pérignon, as well as many, many more…Read on for some of the highlights.
Historic vintages and large formats
Let’s start strong with a 1920 Château Brane Cantenac, a 1924 Château Pichon Longueville, and a 1945 Château Pavie, bottles that will delight collectors of excellent mature vintages. Similarly, a Sauternes premier grand cru classé from Château de Rayne Vigneau is up for grabs in its 1949 vintage. Whoever gets the chance to taste this deliciously aged nectar won’t forget the moment easily. On the Italian side, a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from domain Biondi Santi is available in its 1955 vintage; a way to travel in both space and time.
Möet & Chandon’s renowned Dom Pérignon is featured in a bottle from 1978; the perfect occasion to get a taste of a legendary champagne house. Other classics include a bottle of 1966 Château Latour and a 1970 Yquem.
Our auctions wouldn’t be complete without a few more generous formats. This week, Burgundy leads the way with some sumptuous magnums: the 2017 Musigny grand cru Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, 2010 Meursault Les Petits Charrons from Arnaud Ente, 2016 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Vieilles Vignes from Hubert Lamy, 1999 Corton-Charlemagne grand cru from Domaine Bonneau du Martray, and a 2001 Nuits-Saint-Georges premier cru Les Saint Georges from Robert Chevillon. From Bordeaux, you’ll find an incredibly rare jeroboam of 1991 Château d’Yquem. Finally, this 1999 magnum of Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Jamet is an excellent vintage with beautiful balance.
Gems from across the Hexagon
Whilst your love for grands crus is as evident as ever, we’ve also noticed an increasing interest in wines from smaller domains, or at least estates that haven’t yet reached iconic status. Among these are bottles like the 2015 La Marginale from Les Roches Neuves and Chinon wines by Philippe Alliet. Still in the Loire, the 2019 Les Coqueries cuvée by Stéphane Bernaudeau is also featured.
From the Jura, Domaine Pierre Overnoy is well-represented with some superb Arbois-Pupillin lots in their 1998 and 2018 vintages, as is Alsace’s Zind-Humbrecht whose Rangen de Thann Clos Saint-Urbain cuvée is available in several bottles from 2009. This is a must-try for fans of Pinot gris. Let’s finish with Clos Triguedina and a 2001 cuvée that Malbec enthusiasts will adore.
