Auction top picks | 120 years of dazzling bottles

auction fine wine

From a 1900 Armagnac to a 2000 Petrus, time to travel through the best vintages of the 20th century with iDealwine. As always, we’re on the hunt for three things: prestige, excellence, and intrigue. These three combined – and often coinciding with rarity – result in this dazzling catalogue of treasures.

Bordeaux once again offers us incredible bottles, each one as delicious as the next. Discover a magnificent Duclot Collection case composed of nine grands crus classés: Petrus, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, Margaux, Haut-Brion, La Mission-Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Latour and finally Yquem, all from the 2008 vintage.  You will also have the opportunity to get your hands on a Château-lafleur-2010. Petrus is again present at this sale, featuring 1995, 1999 and 2000 vintages.  You can also find vintages dating from the beginning of the last century, such as the 1928 Léoville-Las-Cases or the 1936 Yquem Premier Grand Cru Classé.

Burgundy is not neglected in this formidable sale either, notably thanks to beautiful bottles of 2018 Bonne-Mares-Grand-Cru from the Georges Roumier estate or this bottle of Vosne-Romanée 2009 from Domaine Leroy.  Still in the spirit of time travel, it will be possible to jump back in time a few decades, in order to discover or rediscover some excellent wines, such as this grand cru Romanée-Conti from 1969. Louis Latour will be represented by bottles of romanée-saint-vivant or chambertin Cuvée Héritiers 1999.

The Champagne region is also full of nuggets. So, if you are looking for delicate regional bubbles, you can bid on the Belle Epoque 2008 vintage of Perriet Jouët or a few bottles of Dom Pérignon, with various vintages (1985, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009). It will also be an opportunity to get your hands on a Methuselah of Brut 1983 from Pommery. If you like confidential properties, turn to Aurélien Lurquin and his cuvée Meunier Les Crayères du Levant.

Now let’s head to the Loire Valley, where we find a selection dominated by Clos Rougeard and its 2014 vintage.  Domaine de Bel Air is also featured with two magnums of 2010 Bourgeuil Clos Nouveau. The Rhone Valley spoils us with two magnums of Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Da Capo 2000 from Domaine de Pegaü.  You can also find some fine wines from Jean-Louis Chave such as his Saint Joseph Clos Florentin (2015, 2017) and his Hermitage (2000, 2016).

Beyond French borders, let’s travel to Bella Italia – check out wines from Piedmont, such as this 2016 Pie Barolo from Domaine Cappellano or this 2008 Langhe Sori Tildin.  Germany – king of Riesling – is represented by the iconic 2010 and 2012 Rieslings from Egon Muller.  You can also discover wines from across the Atlantic, such as this Chilean 2013 Montsecano.

Spirits also occupy a special place in this catalogue. You can find a 1900 Samalens Vintage Armagnac or this bottle of 1970s rum from the Martinique estate Bally.  You can also appreciate a few bottles of 1914 Cognac from Jacques Lagan. For all spirits lovers, don’t forget upcoming Fine Spirits Auction which will allow you to find even more choice!

Happy Bidding!
