The auction closed this Wednesday 29 March featured a great selection of grands crus from Bordeaux and Burgundy and some exceptional Cognac and an important choice of large formats.
Bordeaux: 1,250 lots from the region are featured with about 100 from the Premiers crus classés as this Latour 1949, Angélus and Yquem 1962 and many original wooden cases. However you will find a large spectrum of prices with very reasonable mature wines like Château Gazin, Gloria or Haut Marbuzet. In Sauternes and Barsac you’ll see lots of Yquem, going back to 1935, but also La Tour Blanche 1924 and Château Caillou – Crème de Tête 1947, Suduiraut 1967 as well as their Crème de Tête 1989. A great opportunity to taste fantastic back vintages for a sweet price.
Burgundy: one of the most iconic wines of the region appears in this sale: the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1988 from Henri Jayer. Fanatics of La Romanée-Conti will be please by the choice of La Tâche and the Richebourg 2007. All other gems are featured: Comtes Lafon, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, Dugat-Py but also domaines Roumier, Mommessin (Clos de Tart) and Armand Rousseau. In white, look up the Meursault from Coche-Dury, the Montrachet from domaines Ramonet, Comtes Lafon or Etienne Sauzet. With more accessible price, domaine Trapet, Chablis from Dauvissat or William Fèvre, David Duband and Hubert Lignier are all great deals.
Rhône: all the famous wines from Châteauneufs, Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage and Condrieux are auctioned: Rayas, Jaboulet, Jean-Louis Chave, Henri Bonneau, Jamet as well as the very rare Cuvée Da Capo from domaine du Pegaü. Fans of Emmanuel Reynaud (Château Rayas) will particularely enjoy the wines from domaine des Tours and Château Pignan.
In Loire, Clos Rougeard (in both red and white), great Vouvrays from Domaines Huet and Clos Naudin, Pouilly-Fumé by Dagueneau as well as the wines from Jacky Blot (Taille aux Loups and domaine de la Butte). En Champagne, don’t miss the methuselah Amour de Deutz 2002 and the emblematic cuvée « S » 1959 from Salon or Cuvée Cristal Louis Roederer. In the South, many Grange des Pères, La Petite Sibérie from Clos des Fées and Syrah Léone by Peyre Rose, domaine Gauby and Trévallon.
Last but not least, spectacular Armagnacs and Cognac as well as a rare Rhum, Clément 1952.
