Auction: 10,000 prime bottles | The vineyard elite | AUCTION CLOSED

auction june threeA sublime selection of nearly 10,000 bottles go to auction on iDealwine until the 27th and 28th June. Historic cuvées and the rising stars, there’s plenty to discover. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

We’ll start with Bordeaux where you’ll find an anthology of grands crus classés. This catalogue boasts an impressive array of Château d’Yquem including two vintages of the century for Sauternes, 1921 and 1976 as well as an imperial produced in 2009. Don’t miss also the magnum of Petrus in one of the finest vintages, 1989, followed by two Château Margaux presented in the 1986 and 1990 vintages, two very successful years for this domain. Fans of Saint-Emilion will enjoy, amongst others, the two lots of magnums of Château Figeac in the exceptional 1989 and 1990 vintages.

In Burgundy you’ll find plenty of first class bottles including the flagship wine from the prestigious Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in the 1988 vintage and La Tâche in the 1998 and 2002 vintages. Add to this mythic signature the Musigny from Faively (1966) and Mugnier (2010), Chambertin 2002 and 2005 from Armand Rousseau and the finest lieux-dits from the Pommard appellation in the 2006 vintage from Domaine de Courcel. Looking for a rare bottle? We propose the Clos-de-la-Roche 2003 and 2004 from Jacky Truchot. For those looking to discover the wonders of Burgundy at small prices, why not try one of the Nuits-Saint-Georges (2011, 2012) from Robert Chevillon or those from the reputable Clos de l’Arlot proposed in both white and red (2005, 2008, 2013, 2014). In the reds, you’ll also find the Volnay Cuvée Carnot from Bouchard Père & Fils (2003). In the whites, let yourself be tempted by one of the sumptuous Chablis from Domaine Dauvissat, proposed in various vintages, or the Puligny-Montrachet from Domaine Jacques Prieur.

From the Rhône, you’ll find all the finest wines from Hermitage: Jean-Louis Chave (1976, 1990), an impressive run of Chapoutier (1999 to 2015) and Paul Jaboulet. The famous LA-LA-LA wines from Guigal, the single vineyard cuvées, are also present. From the southern Rhône, we dare you to resist the Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château Rayas in the 2004, 2005 and 2008 vintage and from Henri Bonneau (2000 to 2011). Meanwhile, the Condrieu and Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Guigal offer attractive prices. Staying in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, why not try the Clos-de-l’Oratoire from Ogier in the 2014 and 2015 vintages and the offerings from Domaine des Vignobles Brunier. Those with a weakness for the Saint-Joseph terroir will enjoy what’s on offer from Domaine Pierre Gaillard.

Heading to the other regions of France, you’ll be sure to discover some of the rising stars from the vineyard. The choice from the Loire is outstanding and features Saumur Brézé and Saumur-Champigny from Clos Rougeard and Pouilly-Fumé Silex from Domaine Dagueneau in various vintages. Sweet wines from this region are particularly well represented in this auction and offer interesting prices. We suggest the Montlouis from Domaine de la Taille aux Loups or the magnificent Vouvrays from Domaine Huet. The Bonnezeaux terroir also offers some gems such as the delights from Château de Fesles. Wine lovers in search of minerality at good prices, try the Sancerre from Pascal Cotat or Alphonse Mellot and if you want to try a natural wine, we recommend the Vins de France from Richard Leroy or a Chenin from Stéphane Bernaudeau.

Don’t miss the celebrated cuvées from Ganevat and Overnoy in the Jura and from Beaujolais the emblematic Cuvée Zacharie from Château Thivin (2005). As for Champagne, the offerings from Jacques Selosse and Dom Pérignon are mighty.

Be sure to browse also the selection of old whiskies, Cognacs and Armagnacs, not to mention the sumptuous ports and the 250 lots of non-French wines, including many fine Italian wines.

We hope you’ll enjoy this elegant selection. Happy bidding wine lovers!
