Have you been searching in vain for the collectors’ vintages of 2000, 1990, 1989, 1982, even 1961, 1945 or even older? You’ve come to the right place! This auction brings together the finest wines from France and beyond, and this in a large selection of vintages…some of which have really made their mark on history!
From Bordeaux, we have some particularly mature vintages from such icons as the king of dessert wines, Yquem (1916, 1921, 1937, 1945) as well as the Châteaux of Lafite-Rothschild (1928), Gruaud Larose (1963), Latour (1949), Mouton-Rothschild (1954) and Sigalas-Rabaud (1925). Not quite as old, though equally as prestigious, Petrus is available in half-bottles from 1990, and traditional bottles from its 1966, 1986, 1998, 2002, and 2008 vintages. Looking for something a bit more recent? The 2009 Cheval-Blanc and the 2000 Le-Pin are undoubtedly two emblematic points of reference from the rive droite. From the other side of the river, Château Lafite-Rothschild’s second wine, Les Carruades, available in a 2003 Magnum, will undoubtedly be magical, much like the 1982 Léoville Les Cases, here representing one of Bordeaux’s most legendary vintages. A little pointer for wine-lovers with a smaller budget, since there’s something for you in this sale as well: take a look at some of our favourites from Belle-Vue, Citran, Clos du Jaugueyron and Haut Marbuzet…the prices for these should stay more accessible!
From Burgundy, it’s true that excellent quality doesn’t only come with old age: the wines up for auction in vintages from the 2000s have already turned out to be delicious. The 2003 La-Tâche will be simply divine, as will the 2000 La-Romanée from Domaine Liger-Belair and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s 2000 Richebourg. As for the best white wines from this region, we have to recommend Coche-Dury’s 2005 Corton-Charlemagne, unless you would prefer it in an older vintage like 2001 or 1994. Among the many admirable names, it’s worth mentioning Armand Rousseau, Leroy, and Faiveley, all with superb selections up for auction.
From the Rhône Valley, the famous Cathelin cuvée by Jean-Louis Chave is available in its 1995 vintage alongside other legendary wines such as Henri Bonneau’s Réserve des Célestins from 1990 or 2000, a 2010 Rayas, and the Côte-Rôtie trio from Guigal, especially enjoyable in their most mature vintages. And as you may have expected, each appellation has its surprise lots: Chave’s 2005 Hermitage, Auguste Clape’s 2004 Cornas, the 2005 Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin, Jamet’s 1990 Côte-Rôtie, as well as Gangloff’s 2005 Condrieu…
From the Loire, what more could you want than the rarest Astéroïde cuvée in its 2000 vintage and a vertical of more than fifty bottles from Clos Rougeard? In adding the 1990 and 2015 Vouvray Goutte d’Or to the picture, we make it a true masterpiece.
We are giving you the chance to taste a Languedoc icon from 1992, the first vintage produced by the mythical Grange des Pères. An absolute rarity. The Overnoy wines from the Jura region will be, as always, bottles to keep an eye on. Our selection of non-French wines includes the 2001 Grand masseto from Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia. Fans of Port will be glad to know that there is a 1937 Burmester Extra Selected Colheita as well as a Novidade Reserva from 1922.
Finally, as for the spirits on offer, several cuvées such as the Tesseron Extreme Rare Cognac or old Armagnacs like the 1947 Baron Duvignac mean that this sale reaches the heights of excellence.
