1858-2018: a wine lover’s paradise

Joguet

Three quarters of the wines in this auction are at least 10 years old, which is precisely what you need, if you don’t have the patience to wait years, sometimes decades, to open your precious bottles at their best. And if you don’t (yet) have the cellar you deserve to allow your bottles to age gracefully, there’s no time like the present to top up your cellar!

In Bordeaux, choose the best: the finest wines in landmark vintages. Petrus is available in several vintages of the 1990s, and Château Haut-Brion in 1989 and 1961, Mouton Rothschild 1982 and 1986, Margaux 1990, 2005 and 2010, Lafite-Rothschild 2009, Latour 2001… and much more. Even older vintages are well represented: Haut-Brion 1961, Yquem 1965, Lafite-Rothschild 1962 and 1966, Gilette 1947. Many crus bourgeois and some mature non-classé wines are proposed at budget-friendly prices, such as Château Citran 2003, Château de Carles 1995, Les Carmelites of Rieussec 2000.

In Burgundy too, you’ll find an anthology of excellent mature wines (even if maturity comes sooner than it does in Bordeaux or in the Rhone). The most legendary wine in the world is available at auction: Romanée-Conti Grand Cru of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, as well as twenty other vintages from the domain. Similarly, vintages from Domaine Leroy are proposed in fine vintages of the 1990s and those of Coche-Dury in the 2000s and 2010s. Georges Roumier, Domaine d’Auvenay, Prieuré Roch, Armand Rousseau, Emmanuel Rouget, Arnaud Ente… All these domains are widely represented in vintages and all are ripe for savouring. And even in Burgundy, you don’t have to break the bank: look to regional appellation wines such as Anne Boisson‘s Aligoté or wines from the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais.

In the Rhône, we have a wide range of fine, ready-to-drink Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Rayas 1989, Clos Saint-Jean 2009, Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin 1998. The same goes for Côtes-Rôtie wines: (Guigal’s LA-LA wines, Jamet), Hermitage (Chave) and Saint-Joseph (Gonon).

Even in Champagne, collectable vintages abound: Cristal 1966, 1973, 1979, Selosse 1992 and 1995, Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Champagne 1970, Dom Pérignon 1998. In the Loire, twenty bottles of mature Clos Rougeard await you (2000, 2002, 2004…), as well as the sublime wines of domain Charles Joguet (1989), and more recent vintages of Bernaudeau. In the Jura, we’re delighted to be offering a half-century-old vin jaune and Ganevat from the early 2000s.

Yet the oldest lots of the auction reside in our liqueur and spirits catalogue, for example with a very old Cognac Grande Champagne Napoléon 4 AE DOR (dating back to 1858) and an Armagnac Très Vieille Réserve from Fauchon 1868. That’s not forgetting a selection of 50-year-year-old whiskies.

Happy bidding!
