2018 gets off to a flying start with this sale featuring only mature vintages! Starting from 1947 to 2007, iDealwine has found some of the rarest and most mythical wines in the world, but also great classics and small connoisseurs’ picks at reasonable prices.
The “Premiers” are present in number, with a beautiful declination of vintages: Petrus 1970 or Lafite-Rothschild 1964 (in jeroboam), Haut-Brion 1978 (Imperial) or Cheval Blanc. The second wines are also represented as Carruades, Forts de Latour and Pavillon Rouge. The selection offers just about everything one could dream of in Bordeaux: the best classified growths in 1855 from the Médoc and Sauternes, those from the right bank, the Crus Classé from Pessac-Léognan, the best Crus Bourgeois and few other unclassified wines as Domaine de l’A. In short, the selection is great and nothing to spoil, it starts from €12 euros with Chateau Tour Haut-Caussan 2002.
This sale can allow you to become the happy owner of real rarities, like a 2003 Chorey-les-Beaune from Leroy, a Charmes-Chambertin 2005 from Jacky Truchot or Dugat-Py, or the famous Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1972 from Grivelet. In white, go for the 2005 Montrachet of Comtes Lafon and the Batard-Montrachet 1983 from Etienne Sauzet. The oldest vintages date back to 1972 and some large formats are featured as the Corton 2002 Château Corton Grancey (Louis Latour). You will find here some of the most mythical crus of Burgundy, in vintages ready to drink: Leflaive, Armand Rousseau, Georges Roumier, Raveneau…
A few large formats are present like this Jeroboam of Hermitage La Chapelle 2006 from Paul Jaboulet Aîné, this Methuselah of Hermitage Chante Alouette 1996 from Chapoutier! For more traditional formats, the 2002 Hermitage of Jean-Louis Chave promises to be a marvel, just like Château de Fonsalette 2006 and the Cuvée du Centenaire 2006 by André Brunel. The good plan of the sale? Chateau des Tours 2006, without a doubt!
In the Loire Valley, crush for beautiful mature Vouvray, like the Clos du Bourg 2006 from Domaine Huet, or beautiful Le Mont Damné Chavignol from Dagueneau. In Champagne, finally taste grande cuvée in a mature vintage like a 1985 Cristal Roederer, a superb Jacquesson Dégorgement Tardif 1995 or A Grande Sendrée from Drappier! In Alsace, it is an opportunity to taste a sumptuous late harvest or a Selection de Grains Nobles. Madirans often offer remarkable value for old vintages as we have tasted some recently in master classes in Hong Kong and London: the Montus and Bouscassé should not disappoint you! You will also find here superb mature vin jaunes.
Finally, some foreign wines are also available in vintages ready to drink: Roberto Voerzio’s Langhe, Angelo Gaja’s Brunello di Montalcino, Elio Altare’s Barolo, but also German Rieslings, Tokays, Spanish wines, Napa Valley and Old Port.
