iDealwine in Asia

iDealwine in Asia In November, Arthur de Lencquesaing and Alix Rodarie, from iDealwine’s international department are travelling around Asia to meet customers, take part in wine fairs, masterclasses and present iDealwine to new wine lovers.

Asia is the fastest growing market for iDealwine, with 64% growth since January 2017. It represents 13.5% of our turnover. Asian connoisseurs mainly buy Bordeaux or Burgundy grands crus, but have an increasing interest for some niche wines and appellations featured on iDealwine, usually harder to find in traditional Asian distribution networks. In their quest for quality, Asian customers spend, on average, €174 per bottle, in comparison to the global average bottle price of €90 for iDealwine. We are always very impressed by the level of knowledge of our Asian customers we meet in tastings diners or fairs. After opening an office in Hong Kong in 2013, the demand started to rise significantly from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan and Singapore. Little novelty: we now ship to South Korea!

Quick overview of our Asia tour

Arthur and Alix will start their tour by a series of diners and tastings with customers. For this visit, they have decided to gather Hong Kong French school alumni from HEC, ESCP, EMLyon, and EDHEC. The tasting and network event will be held at Belon in Soho and we’ll present a very interesting series of top French wines. Having supported wine and tasting clubs in France for many years now, iDealwine accounts with a strong community of loyal expats customers. They are particularly keen in keeping access to fine wine wherever they move around the world.

For the alumni who haven’t received an invitation yet, do not hesitate to contact us, you are welcome of course!

The next step of their Asian tour is the Hong Kong Wine Fair, the most influential wine event in Asia. This international wine and spirits fair will take place from the 9th to the 11th of November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Bettane and Desseauve have a special area dedicated to fine wines from France. We are happy to have a stand there, where we will be able to share with you the following bottles (and many more!): Branaire Ducru 1998, Domaine de Marcoux Vieilles Vignes 1999 and Rivesaltes in several mature vintages 1934, 1954 and even the very special 1947… Come and see us to taste our other great bottles.

Arthur de Lencquesaing, in charge of the international development and sales for iDealwine, will also present iDealwine Masterclass at the Hong Kong Wine Fair, with the famous French journalist Michel Bettane. While the latter will describe the wines, Arthur will comment the latest trends in the wine auction market focusing on the region of origin of each wine: just to make your mouth water, we will open several bottes including Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 1993, La Chapelle 1998 and La Conseillante 1986, undoubtedly illustrating the theme of the masterclass “Tour de France of mature wines”.

Arthur and Alix are also travelling to Singapore and Shanghai to meet with more private and professional customers. They’ll finally join ProWine Shanghai, happening on 14-16 November at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). After their tour, we’ll keep you updated and summarize the latest trends occurring in this exciting market. Stay tuned!
