This sale offers wines from the Loire Valley, from Muscadet to Côte Roannaise, with 200 cuvées including the most interesting domains of the region. Land of treasures and discoveries, very often at reasonable prices, the Loire Valley is very attractive!
At iDealwine, we really enjoyed preparing this regional sale. Indeed nearly everyone here falls for the wines from Loire, has a say on the choice of the domains, and imagines their own purchases. In short, if you too, are a fan of Loire wines, you will, just like us, have a feel of heaven with this sale.
Let’s start with the most mythical wines: Clos Rougeard. Le Clos, Les Poyeux, Le Bourg and even the white wine of the domain, Saumur Brézé (2005) are in the catalogue. In the same appellation, Saumur-Champigny, we also favour another great producer for smaller budgets, Domaine des Roches Neuves. Other domains less well known to the general public and very specific are also worth a visit, like Antoine Sanzay, inspired by the Clos Rougeard and trained by Thierry Germain (Roches Neuves). The cuvées are fresh and fruity. Besides, Saint-Just and René-Noël Legrand are two superb domains from Saumur-Champigny, adored by amateurs. You will find superb Saumur white wines, including Domaine du Collier from Antoine Foucault (the son of Charly and nephew of Nady, from the family of Clos Rougeard). This domain also offers great red wines that can be kept overtime to mature.
For Bourgueil, we highly recommend the Domaine de la Chevalerie: if you haven’t tasted it yet, it’s time, and at that price, no excuse! Same thing for Catherine and Pierre Breton, or for the Domaine de La Butte from Jacky Blot. In the neighbouring appellation, Chinon, turn to Bernard Baudry who creates very delicate and fruity wines or Domaine Charles Joguet for more powerful and yet very fine wines.
Wonderful white wine from Montlouis and Vouvray are not to be left behind. In this sale, you will find everything you can possibly look for: dry, sweet or effervescent. François Chidaine is one of the great masters of dry Montlouis, as well as Sébastien Brunet and Jacky Blot (Domaine de La Taille aux Loups), even though the latter, of which we are among the greatest admirers, also produces sumptuous sweet wines. Lastly, the sweet wines of Domaine Huet and Clos Naudin remain unrivalled and can be kept almost indefinitely.
In Sancerre, a rising region, we have also chosen the cream of the crop, with Alphonse Mellot, very popular among wine-lovers, the Domaine Vacheron, François Crochet, Gérard Boulay and Fouassier, two of our favourites.
In Pouilly-Fumé, you should take a look at the Domaine Michel Redde, which offers very concentrated, straight, well-defined wines, with a great keeping potential and an interesting value for money.
Moreover, we have chosen a few domains from the Muscadet. They give a new image to the appellation and mark a qualitative leap, nothing to do with the reputation people mistakenly maintain. Whether it is Jo Landron, Bonnet-Huteau, or the Domaine de l’Ecu (which is our new partner domain), you will get your money’s worth because most of these great wines are presented for less than €20. Near to Muscadet, the AOC Savennières was highlighted thanks to the Coulée de Serrant from Nicolas Joly, an emblematic domain of biodynamics.
Finally, located at the other end of the Loire, not far from Lyon, the AOC Côte Roannaise produces very affordable wines like Domaine Pothiers, the most emblematic of the region. For flamboyant wine lovers! We wish you a pleasant shopping on iDealwine.
